carusoam Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 More questions for @dooleypster above… Very nice looking plane…. Expect more questions…. -a- Quote
ZuluZulu Posted January 4, 2022 Report Posted January 4, 2022 Not to stomp on the ad, but I do not believe this plane (SN 24-3080) can be called an "MSE" (starting at 24-3144). Maybe the seller can clarify. Quote
DCarlton Posted January 4, 2022 Report Posted January 4, 2022 Very nice. Would like to see panel and interior pics too. Looks like it will sell rather quickly. I'm tempted.... Quote

Maybe the seller can clarify. Yeah, technically correct. 89 is a pre-MSE, post-205 201 that has the MSE type updates for 2900# GW etc. My plane says “Special Edition” on the side of it. So it’s not technically an MSE, but you can see it from here. I think they just hadn’t decided whether to stick the acronym on there. If it were me, I’d advertise it as a 201. Quote
dooleypster Posted January 4, 2022 Author Report Posted January 4, 2022 The aircraft in this ad is spoken for and a deposit is on the way.....there are also backup offers waiting. If the deal does not go through for whatever reason, I will repost so the ad will once again be active. Many thanks for the nice comments. Very sad to be leaving the Mooney/Aviation community. 1 Quote

Didn't figure it would last more than a few days. I almost called but have never made any decision as quickly as the market requires now. It's crazy. Congrats. Quote

ArtVandelay Posted January 4, 2022 Report Posted January 4, 2022 In this market you need to know what you want and keep track of current planes for sale and their asking prices, so when you find the right one you can jump on it. Quote

This plane sold in one day without listing on any of the major marketing web sites. I'm not even sure how you move deposits that fast or what % is expected to hold an aircraft. I'm not sure I can buy in to this frenzy even if I decide I really want to make a move unless I get a lead at my local airport. Quote

It takes less than 5 minutes to transfer money on PayPal or Zelle. Smarter move though is to show a receipt for an escrow deposit to Aerospace Reports or something similar. It takes 10-15 minutes to initiate a wire transfer online if you are set up with your bank, Quote
ArtVandelay Posted January 5, 2022 Report Posted January 5, 2022 I'm not even sure how you move deposits that fast or what % is expected to hold an aircraft. 5% should be enough. But don’t be surprised if seller requires all cash deal. Happens a lot in Florida real estate market. Quote

Happens a lot in Florida real estate market. On the airplane I sold in November the buyer was already pre-qualified, with a letter presented with the offer. I had 2 conditions to take it off the market: that I be kept in the loop and would have permission to talk to the loan officer, that we close in ten days. We closed in 6 days. We did a contract Saturday, I dropped it off for the pre-buy Monday, sat in on the pre-buy Tuesday (no discrepancies), we signed all of the paperwork electronically Thursday and it funded Friday morning. What made it work was mutual trust. We talked a lot the day before and of the contract and the day after the contract and got to know each other. The logs were already carefully scrutinized by his guy the night before the contract. We "bought" each other and I think will be friends for years to come. I see airplanes for sale where they haven't even bothered to scan the logs to get them ready for potential buyers. Get all your ducks in a row before you list it. 1 Quote

Buying on TAP/Controller is tough. Don’t discount the local airport though - look for bulletin boards at nearby FBOs and ask around a bit. In a frenzied market, I actually think a Barnstormers or a Craigslist is a better bet than the flashy pay sites. The Barnstormers / Craigslist seller is more likely to be trolling and less likely to be inundated with competitive buyers. Quote
