When I bought my first Mooney in July of 1984 the insurance company didn't require any training. I had flown one leg of a trip to Oshkosh in an M20F a year earlier. When I told the CFI, that arranged that trip, that we were 250 Lbs. over gross, he told me to shut up. But I digress. My second Mooney flight Was the demo flight at the dealers airport. My next flight was flying it home (across town). My next flight was a night flight to Oshkosh from Denver. I still haven't gotten any transition training. I had flown over 400 hours the previous year in a Cutlass RG, that's why the insurance company didn't require any training.

I've given myself 3 full weeks (the drive out will eat up at least 5 of those days). The car is a rental that I'll be leaving in Windsor. I'm hoping to avoid temp extremes as much as possible....heres hoping for a January thaw :)

Appreciate the info and will print it off.

I suspect you already know, but in case you don't, WestJet flies to Kitchener. That to me would seem easier and probably cheaper than renting a car to drive across the country?

Certainly quicker, leaving plenty of time to fly, divert, flightsee or wait out weather.

Blasphemer!

Rich, your description is comparable to mine.  A noted CFI here who flies an M20M told me a couple years ago that I was basically an accident waiting to happen because I didn’t receive transition training 30 years and 15,000 hours ago.  SMH.

Here is more Blasphemy; The first time I flew it I found it very easy to fly and land...

We’ve also got Flair Airlines from a number of western cities.

This is like a confessional at church.  I didn’t get transition training in my 400 either.  The insurance company did insist that I read the PoH though.

I keep forgetting that Flair carries passengers now, they used to just be cargo.

I've heard they treat their passengers like cargo .. lol.

Just kidding, although I think it's like the Canadian version of Spirit Airlines here in the U. S.  Still beats driving though by a long shot. And they have a nonstop from Vancouver to Toronto.
