I commonly have lean pops while taxiing, especially in hot weather, but I aggressively lean on the ground.  However, idle is always smooth.

I usually get them when pulling throttle to idle on short final when the weather is hot. On rollout, I lean 2/3--3/4 towards ICO, and she idles nicely.

I guess my question is why do we lean aggressively during hot weather at sea level if we experience lean pops?

I personally don’t get “lean pops”, so I’m guessing you have a small intake leak, maybe check the sniffle valve?
We lean on the ground anytime to prevent lead fouling, especially on the spark plugs.

Have you had lean pops? I’m having all my intake gasket change tomorrow. I seem to have a rough idle and random lean pop after a flight and landing during the heat of the day.

I hear popping after landing on very hot and humid days. Leaning aggressively will eliminate it. How many hours do you have on your mags and plugs?

Interesting.  When I get the pops after landing/during taxi I just enrich the mixture slightly and they go away.  (For me, hours on mags and plugs are irrelevant. I had the issue before I overhauled the mags and put in new plugs.  Still happens.)
