I have a '67F too. I'm mostly satisfied with my avionics but would like to replace the sheetmetal and improve the layout. I've seen some conversions that don't look that well executed and some that look great. Quote

BRBENNETT Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 There are STC kits out there. When I bought M20F, it had one installed from Southwest Texas Aviation, https://www.swta.net. I upgraded my avionics and had a new front panel cut. Attached is a current picture of my setup. My picture cut off the right side of the panel of which are circuit breakers. Quote
Jesse20 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 Thanks guys this is what I am going for, the IPads that will fit on my current panel is 11inch and I would like to put a 12.9 inch pro Quote
Niko182 Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 Youll need an engine monitor of some sort. Quote
Jesse20 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 Yes guardian avionics sells a kit for iPads it’s that you are able to see all that information Quote

Jesse20 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 You are correct the iPads will be displaying the information off the GI275 and the GNX 650XI those would be my primary instruments the iPads are showing me that information this kit is for certified airplanes Quote

Mark Either the aircraft is certified for IFR or it isn’t. An iPad can be used as an aid it situational awareness but not as a primary instrument. To my surprise, the DPE in my area allows students to use geo referenced approach plates on an an iPad for check rides. Quote
markgrue Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 Actually I was referring to the engine instruments. Mark Quote
Jesse20 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) I totally agree but if I get electrical failure the iPads will still work and GI 275 will still work the G3X will not work it will turn off plus I get a bigger screen dual screens for the fraction of the price Jesse Edited November 21, 2021 by Jesse20 Quote

Bob E Posted November 22, 2021 Report Posted November 22, 2021 iPads are great, but you can't use one as a primary instrument in a certificated aircraft. Use an iPad as an EFB and moving map to display route, weather, and ADS-B information. Also, keep in mind that even the brightest iPad (the mini) is nowhere near as bright as instruments designed to be panel-mounted. If the sun is shining directly on your iPad it may be almost impossible to see. Otherwise, I agree with JohnZ. Quote
hammdo Posted November 22, 2021 Report Posted November 22, 2021 Ever had an iPad totally freeze up and not reboot (even with a hard reset) while in flight IFR? I did and thankfully my CFI had hers. Its not a question of if but when it will freeze. -Don Quote
David Lloyd Posted November 22, 2021 Report Posted November 22, 2021 Don, I've said for years, it isn't a matter of if, but when something will fail. If it is used on or in an airplane, sooner or later it will malfunction. Quote
