Stupid Things You’ve Done?

I flew to a small uncontrolled field and had parked when I realized the FBO was closed and I needed to go over to self serve to get fuel. No problem I crank the plan back up and start taxing over to the pumps, I get there and go to grab my wallet out of my bag and realize I placed my bag on the walk way of the wing before cranking the plane back up and not the full contents of my flight back were scattered across the ramp blowing in the wind. so I'm chasing check lists around and my dog is thinking its a game running around trying to chase me.

I forgot the time I let both my boys sit in the back seat of the M20C.   They got to horsing around and shortly after the Johnson bar got kicked out of the block and kit my elbow pretty hard.   Noting the down-lock block for a M20C should be a part of a passenger briefing.

20211217_105721.thumb.jpg.fd7a7f3e586af4c6eec4bf02d9bb2644.jpgI had taken our 2 year old, 65 pound black lab mix for a short ride to make certain she was good with flying.  A few days before Christmas, removed the copilot seat for extra room and loaded up the wife and both dogs for a trip to Owensboro, KY.  Idea was for the big dog to lay on the floor beside me, the small dog to sit with Penny in the back seat. That worked good for a few minutes.  Then Jackie decided the back seat might be a little more quiet.  Then she squeezed between the back seats to the cargo area.  Good thing we packed light.  Leveling out, I glanced back just in time to see Jackie climbing into the hat shelf area.  Thank goodness it did not collapse into the tailcone.  Full nose-down trim.  I did not see any speed advantage.  She did return to the back seat for landing.  Coming home, I packed the hat shelf full of light stuff to prevent a repeat performance.

Wow, that could have been a real problem...and one that I would have never thought about with a dog in the cabin....thanks for sharing that one!

Couple of years ago I flew an IPC with a CFII buddy of mine, VFR and CAVU. After the runup, before I call the TWR he decided to "give me Clarence" so I can repeat it like on a real flight. Sure enough, I repeat the clearance while pressing the PTT (as always, right?) on a frequency.  KPAE ground: Mooney 14M, you are transmitting on the ground" with the laughter at the background.

OOOPS! :o

Is that a dog tether on the big one?

:)

Just a harness for walking.  It is tight but that sneaky girl can still back out of it in the blink of an eye.  We have tried several brands with the same result.  She rode just fine in the baggage, standing, sitting, laying and eventually sleeping.  Just need to plug the hat shelf to keep her out.
