Thank you for the comment, I felt the paint scheme really accents the classic lines of the Mooney.  Kudos to Evoke Aircraft design for putting my ideas onto paper!  The darker gray  is a Charcoal Gray Metallic.  Quote

Total time was about two months.  Part of that was length of time was ArtCraft Paint waiting on me to decide I had the best design possible and to choose the right colors.  Total cost was a bit over $25K.  That included the complex paint, ceramic coat, chafe tape and all new stainless steel fasteners throughout. 1 1 Quote

kris_adams Posted August 31, 2022 Report Posted August 31, 2022 and I would order these today if they fit early J's... Quote

Call the US distributor for Aveo and tell them! They started on a version that would "drop in" on the vintage Mooneys, but haven't been motivated to finish. I've told them they would sell 10X as many as their current version, but perhaps they need more people to inquire and tell them the same thing. 1 Quote

Do it expecting a speed increase and most likely you will. Lo Pretsi when asked about the performance of the new wingtips back in the day very quickly started comparing them to some Lady’s nose saying she always had an attractive nose. Didn’t have to read between the lines very hard to see he was saying the benefit was in looks. My J happens to have the upturned tips 1 Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 9, 2022 Report Posted September 9, 2022 Any noticeable speed increase with these will be due to collateral drag reduction if you do what some of us have done (or are doing in my case). Vintage NAV antennas like the cat whiskers or towel bars are draggy...you can delete them and install new ones inside these tips. LASAR used to sell their tips with such an option. Anyway, it adds a good bit of labor, but some of us are fanatical with improvements and drag reduction. Follow LoPresti's lead and continue the drag reduction to go faster! It is a lot harder to add power for us. Optimal control surface rigging, gear door fit, cowl fit, etc. all make a big difference. Hiding or deleting antennas add up as well.Sent from my LM-V450 using Tapatalk Quote

Thanks Nik Quote
KSMooniac Posted October 18, 2022 Report Posted October 18, 2022 There is a US distributor in FL, but I don't remember exactly off the top of my head. I'm sure you can find it without too much effort. I paid Maxwell to install mine in conjunction with re-skinning due to hail damage and I don't remember how many hours got billed to this particular effort. It is modest, especially since you already have the later model wing tips and skins... it should almost be plug-n-play for you. You'll need to re-wire the ship wires to the new wingtip lights, match-drill some holes, and if you do it like me, then get some bonded nut plates installed on the tips. I know for a fact i have the "cheese pattern" as @Aerodon has which will just leave me with a ton of holes. I called aveo reno and they said florida has a pair in stock so ill be calling tomorrow.
