Can anyone explain or point me int he direction of the reasons to replace these? Other than peace of mind?

Thanks!

To Anthony's point, here is my down lock block, along with a new one from the first batch. Note the shelf worn in the old block

Hello to the group, I received the quote for the parts. Like the last batch of parts made, these will be anodized black. Lead time is 6 weeks from the time we place the order.
here’s the quote:

30 or more Uplock - $233.37 each

40 or more Uplock- $205.36 each

30 or more Downlock- $265.86 each

40 or more Downlock- $223.90 each

Shipping for a set is estimated at $25. That covers boxing and shipping costs.

Thank you,

David

Got you added, Moonster. Thats a good question. David, who sourced the nuts and bolts from Spruce?

Hi Alex,

Hardware was sourced by the owners if they wanted to replace it.

Thanks,

David

Can someone be so kind as to provide the hardware kit ordering information? My Google-fu skills stink!

Since I sold my Mooney last year, I no longer have an IPC handy to look up the part numbers.

For my ‘63 C...

Downlock

2 ea bolts:  AN3-26A

2 ea washers:  AN960-10

2 ea nuts:  AN363-1032

Uplock

2 ea bolts:  AN3-17A

2 ea washer:  AN960-10

2 ea nuts:   AN365-1032

The difference between the AN363 nut and the AN365 nut is the AN363 is all metal, the AN365 is an elastic insert lock nut.

Looks like later models might use slightly different hardware on the uplock block.  Maybe because the later models didn’t use a pn 5043 shim?

2 ea bolts:  AN3-11A

2 ea nuts:  AN363-1032 (same)

2 ea washers:  AN970-3

I pasted in the effectivity page for the Index 39 reference...

Is there anywhere to purchase this hardware as a kit?

Hi Vorlon1,

No where that I know of to purchase in kit form. Aircraft Spruce has a good website and you can easily order the few items online in their hardware section.
