Recently I was reading a post here about what options are available for covering the yokes.  The leather options look great and I bet they feel great too but I wasn't ready for that yet.  I just bought the plane and am still in the financial throws of the first year of ownership...  The yoke was already covered with, what I think was, bicycle handlebar tape.  It was old, dirty, bulky, and didn't feel very nice.  I didn't want to just replace it with handlebar tape and someone suggested racquetball tape...  As I was searching I found cloth bar tape.  I bought 2 rolls off amazon and like what I received so I installed on the yokes yesterday.  I think it turned out pretty good.  Its not bulky and its soooo much more secure.  The adhesive on the back is fantastic!

If anyone is looking for a simple option... It took 1 roll per yoke and about 15-20 minutes per side and most of that was cleaning the old bike tape adhesive off.  Sticky, yellow, and disgusting.

Whatever gets you to the next year...   :)

Looks like you are a skilled tennis player or bike rider... with those handle bar wrapping skills...

You can get nice results with bike tape, too, fwiw.  You can sort of see mine here.  That's about a year old.  And yes, I'm an avid cyclist, so I've got technique. :D

Just don't buy the crappy cheap stuff.  This is about $20/roll, does both yokes.
