larrynimmo Posted May 2, 2020 Report Posted May 2, 2020 I’m actually going to do this...I have all of my new plastic panels from vantage and I am awaiting my new carpets from Airtex (who are currently furloughed). Anyone know where I can get this piece of trim? Quote
milotron Posted May 2, 2020 Report Posted May 2, 2020 It's a T shaped extrusion. You might find it from a marine supply store or similar. I haven't seen one through normal aviation channels, I need some also for some repairs in my K. Quote
carusoam Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 One Might be more of a U shaped or C shaped extrusion... The other one looks like a T... Often PVC gets used universally for shaped extrusion parts... good stability over a long period of time under mild heating... Relaxation and shape changes occur after time and temp exposure... PP thoughts only, not a polymerist... Best regards, -a- Quote
larrynimmo Posted May 3, 2020 Author Report Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) The “U” shape one I purchased 30’ of from vantage plastics and it comes in a matching beige color...extremely pliable Edited May 3, 2020 by larrynimmo Quote
M20F-1968 Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Bruce Jaeger has some of the U shaped material. Give him a call. He is very helpful. There are also plastic extrusions used for trim in glass shower stalls. I used a piece to hold my carpet in the aft wall of the baggage compartment. Take a look on e-bay as well. John Breda 1 Quote
PT20J Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 T is really H shaped to hold the two panels together. Not sure where to get it. The U trim Mooney used is vinyl and is fairly stiff. The U trim that Jaeger sells is pliable silicone and you will need to RTV it to the plastic panels (Bruce supplied a tube of glue with my order). It comes in gray or beige the latter being closest in color to the original plastic panels. Skip 1 Quote

The silver trim piece is used to approximate the edges of the two panels and give them a finished look. I used an H vinyl wall panel moulding from Home Depot. Painted it with SEM Color-coat same as the interior plastics. Works very well and is secure. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sequentia-1-42-in-x-8-ft-Prefinished-Vinyl-Wall-Panel-Moulding/3060129?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-mlw-_-google-_-lia-_-128-_-interiorwallpanels-_-3060129-_-0&store_code=1637&placeholder=null&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8IjE2fGY6QIVE4nICh1R1QayEAQYBiABEgJVOvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds 2 1 Quote
