chriscalandro Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Anybody have anything they like that fits the hole? I’d like to avoid searching the 10k options on mouser and see what others have used or liked. if in fact others have used or liked. Quote
carusoam Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Chris can you give a hint to what you would be using the momentary switch for? This May help identify a switch that somebody has used... AS has a much more limited selection than Mouser... much easier to review. Best regards, -a- Quote
chriscalandro Posted November 11, 2019 Author Report Posted November 11, 2019 Ptt. I have a random hole in my panel that used to be a cb for something that is long gone. It’s in the perfect position for a ptt button so I can get rid of the plug in one I use now. as doesn’t seem to have anything that interests me and very limited on what will fill that size hole. carusoam Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Some people have detailed exactly what PTT switch they used... but, they probably selected it to fit in the ram’s horn hole... This might get you close... https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q="Push to talk switch"&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy key words like... single pole, single throw, momentary, push button, switch... may get you even closer in the mouser world... Or go to AS and search on PTT. Best regards, -a- Quote
chriscalandro Posted November 11, 2019 Author Report Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) I’ve been through those. I typically search before I ask. I’m well versed in mouser, but especially when it comes to buttons, a good solid tactile feel is important to me. I thought I’d ask before I picked from a catalog. carusoam Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Try AS... For rough ideas... https://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php Some are decorative and may be nicer for the panel... Best regards, -a- Quote
Andy95W Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Chris- I did exactly what your talking about. This red switch from Aircraft Spruce kind of matches the old circuit breakers and is Milspec. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/p1momswitch.php 2 Quote
chriscalandro Posted November 11, 2019 Author Report Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) Thats the one with the 4lb push? It’s literally the only one as has that might fit. Right now it’s my number 1 option. how do you like it? I’m the kinda guy that likes his buttons to have a nice respectable click to them. Edited November 11, 2019 by chriscalandro Quote
Andy95W Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 I have one for pilot and copilot. It has a very satisfying "clunk" to it. Great for the copilot side, just okay on the pilot yoke. Quote
chriscalandro Posted November 11, 2019 Author Report Posted November 11, 2019 That was the only one I saw that would work, and if it’s got a solid clunk it will be what I’m looking for. I was a little worried about the 4lb push. perfect. Quote
Andy95W Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 I think you'll like it. Problem posted and answered in 47 minutes. Not quite a MS record, but not bad! 1 Quote

carusoam Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 My great uncle Enrico was amazing... He was the greatest of all tenors... his fans are still disappointed that he ran off stage during a San Fran earthquake... back in the day... Unfortunately... no relation... hmmm... I may need a formator handle one day.... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

Expand Otto P7 series are a nice tactile feedback switch. There are other P series too. Mouser. Quote

chriscalandro Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 It’s not the prettiest installation but it’s a great button and it worked out. For those with this question I’m the future it’s a little bigger that the CB or the marker beacon light it replaced and needed to be reamed a bit bigger. some day I’ll get around to cutting a new panel and cleaning things up. chriscalandro Posted December 1, 2019 Author Report Posted December 1, 2019 Not sure why it flipped. It’s not like that on my phone. Quote
