DaV8or Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 I joined your site the other week. I have been checking it out and getting the vibe of the board for a week or so. Everyone seems pretty easy going and very helpful. I've been members of all types of forums and will say you guys have a good thing going and lot's of activity. Had my ticket for a couple of years just had my BFR and finally getting around to purchasing my first aircraft. Been flying a friends 172 the past 2 years. I'm pretty convinced it's a going to be a Mooney. I have 9 hrs in a C model with a J-bar and they fly great. I've met one of our other members here in the Atl area. Jimfinleysr. So far so good with the start of a partnership and friendship. We've eyeballed a J model we want take the next step with. I feel he will really be an asset to me in my continued quest of knowledge imparting his 28 plus years of flying. He's owned 5 aircraft and has his MEI & a commercial rating. I've done a bunch of research on partnerships and we really get along well. Our flying needs match, both financially sound etc, So we are going to start the process of working through a partnership agreement to iron out all the uncomfortable topics to prevent issues down the road. I'm looking forward to learning with you guys and girls and would love to hear whatever advice or input anyone could share. I am also interesting in locating a CFII in the area to help me with transition and my instrument rating. Someone with Mooney experience is what i'm hoping for. Please feel free to Pm me. Welcome to MooneySpace! Quote
sjtodd Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Hello Mooneyspace - I've been lurking for a couple months now reading and learning while getting my PPL training. Almost done, checkride in 2 weeks. Can't help thinking about walking out to "my" plane, and have a few in mind that are currently listed online. When I've got the PPL, I'll start the process in earnest, but currently getting things together and curious if anyone knows of a good A@P IA in the KIDA (Southeast Idaho) or maybe KSLC area who could help with pre-buy inspections and the like? Oh, and if you know of a good C-F mooney for sale nearby, maybe we can talk Steve Quote
Guest Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 As you can see by my handle I am a Safety Professional. In fact I am the Environmental Health and Safety Manager here at Mooney International Corporation. I wanted to work at Mooney for a few reasons; 1. It is the safest aircraft on the market 2. It has the best survival rating of any other single engine piston aircraft. 3. The entire passenger compartment is inside a roll cage. 4. It is all hand made right here in Kerrville Texas, United States of America. 5. The employees here are a great group of highly experienced people and they take PRIDE in their work. I am retired military with safety experience as well as HAZMAT experience in the Navy. I always said that if I were ever to own a single engine aircraft it would have to be a Mooney. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and the avionics packages are not too bad either. Oh by the way, we are hiring also. check it our at www.mooney.com click on the careers link to see what positions are open. 1 Quote
DonMuncy Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 Welcome aboard. Are you also a pilot. Quote

carusoam Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 Hey SG, Thanks for checking in! How long have you been in Kerville? Get ready for some good discussions. One of our recent discussions regarding Mooneys and safety is regarding airbag safety belts. We have had two recent fatal accidents that are a bit concerning to the Mooney pilot community. One of the accidents has directly affected two MooneySpace members. With your help... It looks like we may be able to employ some existing technology to improve the safety of our M20 airframes. It may require an STC? Let us know if you need some help with the search button at the top right. If you need clarification, you can send me a private message by clicking on my M20R avatar. If you need a guy in the north east... I am glad you are here! Welcome aboard, -a- Quote
Guest Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Mr. Muncy, I am not a pilot, yet. There is talk about us here being able to take flight school and do simulator time toward out single engine rating, but that is in the future. Quote
fauskie Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 Wanted to introduce myself to Mooneyspace. Student pilot currently training in a 150, although a good bit of my training started in a 172 at KTMB. I moved back to PA and am hoping to wrap up my training by end of year at small grass strip in Halifax, PA about 25 miles north of Harrisburg. I'm intrigued by Mooneys although I never flew in one. After my PPL, I envision myself flying to/from FL quite a bit to visit inlaws, and the speed, operating costs, efficiency of Mooney is what has me intrigued and thinking it'd be a good choice for me and my (at current time) small family. If anyone is around my area and would be willing to let me tag along on a flight, I'd help wash the plane down afterwards, lol! Cheers! Brian Quote
Marauder Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 Welcome Brian! There are a few members in the Harrisburg area. I am located further east near Avondale. If I plan on being in your area, I will let you know. Quote
fauskie Posted August 31, 2014 Report Posted August 31, 2014 Thanks Marauder! I have only my solo cross country and night flight requirements to meet before the practical flight. Point being, may not be too long til flying to an outside airport to meet up would be an option as well. Quote

fantom Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 ....I envision myself flying to/from FL quite a bit to visit inlaws..... Mooney speed will come in handy leaving your in-laws, Brian, but do you really want to get there quickly? The Mooney is a wonderful platform. Good luck! 1 Quote
fauskie Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Lol fantom, my mother in law is a fantastic cook and treats me like royalty. I am truly blessed as I realize this scenario is extremely rare and somewhat undocumented! Quote

carusoam Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 Fly in, eat, fly out... No need to stay overnight! This is more important when traveling with the wife to your own parents house... -a- Quote
Garry Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Brand new member. Live just north of Toronto and wanted to say a quick hello. Ex-airforce, current airline pilot and one of the prettiest airplanes in the sky and my dream personal plane has always been the Mooney. Worked at Buttonville Airport as a kid and they had a Mooney dealership on the field. Never forget the 201's and 231's, brand new, parked on the ramp. Always wanted one and hope to make a dream come true someday! Went to Oshkosh this summer and fell in love with GA all over again. Just checked out in a C-172 after almost 28 years absence from GA. It is nice to be flying again instead of pushing buttons! Great site and look forward to learning lots. 4 Quote

bjoseph604 Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 New Member Good morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. I am a brand new Mooney owner and look forward to learning a lot here. I just bought a 1975 Mooney M20F and not only is it my first mooney but it is also my first airplane ownership experience. After an extensive prebuy/annual it is currently getting a new interior and a few avionics upgrades. I am looking forward to meeting many of you. Brian 1 Quote

Be curious to see more pictures and learn more about your plane - especially those rounded windows! When I bought it the airplane had a ton of mods. Just about all of the speed mods, 201 style windows, Southwest TX cowl mod & 1 piece belly. It also has 201 style wing tips with strobes. I'll see if I can attach a pic of the panel. Also pretty clean and updated. Where in Delaware are you located? Quote
