Oldguy Posted September 27, 2018 Report Posted September 27, 2018 If it is your first annual, you should open your checkbook, look at the balance, and sigh knowing it will never be that high again.... 1 1 Quote

flight2000 Posted September 28, 2018 Report Posted September 28, 2018 Think this is hard, wait until you have to get an engine overhaul... I'm currently down for the next 5-7 weeks.... By the way, nice floors in that hangar! Wish mine looked like that. Brian 1 Quote

It’ll be a painful March, with a couple upgrades and annual. Quote
McMooney Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Don't worry too much, my first two years of ownership haven't been bad at all. 2 annuals, new baffles, umpteen oil changes, lots and lots of avgas. next year will be expensive, panel update and mag overhauls. Just a note, I'm accepting donations 8) Quote
McMooney Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 I can't wait to finish my IFR, Houston has had nothing but rain and clouds for the last month. If I have to go round the pattern one more time. Quote

The best thing you can do is feed a little each day and then it will not be so hungry in the future and demand large sums of cash. Quote
Cruiser Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 what should a normal Mooney annual INSPECTION cost? no "extra" work just the clean, lube, grease, inspect and sign off Quote

The one before was 1200 or so but we had to do a few things and it was the first annual so I slowed him down asking questions. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 what should a normal Mooney annual INSPECTION cost? no "extra" work just the clean, lube, grease, inspect and sign off Probably depends on location and mechanic type(shade tree vs MSC).Mine have ranged from $1800 for a MSC to $1400, not owner assisted, but owner involved. Takes them about a week.I like to be present at beginning for compression tests and also for gear retraction test, and be actively engaged discussing squawks and any issues the mechanics find. Quote
Yetti Posted October 6, 2018 Report Posted October 6, 2018 Funny video. If you owner assisted you could put all that energy to good use.... 1 Quote
jonhop Posted December 7, 2018 Report Posted December 7, 2018 My first annual... and in my hanger! Why let your mistress / baby go anywhere else for an inspection. Sure the hanger got dirty... but my baby got a clean bill of health and that's all that matters in my book! Quote
steingar Posted December 7, 2018 Report Posted December 7, 2018 When I had mechanics coming to my hangar for annual I really liked it. But those guys are long gone. They just don't make mechanics like they used to. 1 Quote

Yeah... that's why one of my goals over the next few years is to get my A&P certification. Hopefully, in the mean-time I can keep my wonderful relationship with my current A&P/IA. Quote
