MrRodgers Posted August 25, 2018 Report Posted August 25, 2018 Hi everyone. I had a discharge yesterday in my electrical system. After trouble shooting we found that the field wire connection point in my alternator is loose and broken. That being the case I am looking for a cost effective replacement. My part number is 015-01237. Motorola is the manufacturer. Any suggestions as to a suitable (newer) replacement as opposed to an older style alternator would be appreciated. So far all I can find are refurbished as opposed to new. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and experience with me. Best, Michael Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted August 25, 2018 Report Posted August 25, 2018 What’s wrong with an overhauled alternator or just getting yours fixed? Quote
carusoam Posted August 25, 2018 Report Posted August 25, 2018 How does this sound? Challenge: field wire post is broken... Solution: have generator shop fix the broken parts... could be back in business quickly... Opportunity: Find new light weight alternator and voltage regulator... run a new field wire... Side benefits: more UL better voltage control another 30+ years with few worries PP thoughts only, not a mechanic. Best regards, -a- Quote
CaptRJM Posted August 25, 2018 Report Posted August 25, 2018 If you want new, have you tried Plane Power? http://planepower.aero/ They have quite a few options .... maybe one will be a replacement for yours? Otherwise, a more cost effective solution is to have yours repaired / overhauled or exchanged. 1 Quote

Guest Posted August 25, 2018 Report Posted August 25, 2018 Quality Aircraft Accessories sells the Interav alternator now at 450.00. Or consider a Plane Power new unit for not a lot more. Clarence Quote
Yetti Posted August 26, 2018 Report Posted August 26, 2018 Probably want to visit the Alternator repair shop and get that alternator for your airboat engine fixed Quote
