FlyboyKC Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 I have a 3M WX11 Stormscope that came with the plane. I can't tell if its working or not. The other day there were storms on the Nexrad but the scope didn't have anything shown. When I hit the test button nothing happens. If I pull the breaker and the thing powers up I see the cross hairs and that's it. Anyone got any ideas on what I can try to determine if this thing is working and which component might be having an issue? Thanks Neal Quote

Thanks Neal Find your stormscope antenna on the belly and have someone get under there and run a power tool like a drill near the antenna. Your stormscope should light up big time if it's working properly. This test is best done on the ground . . lol 1 Quote
ArtVandelay Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 Try disconnecting the various cables from the computer and display, clean with electronic cleaner and reassemble. You could try to buy replacements for display and computer and swap them out. I sold mine to a MS member just for that purpose. Quote
jaylw314 Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 That doesn't sound right. If it's anything like the WX-10, holding down the TEST button should produce a cluster of spots about 90 nm at around 2:00 from the center. Obviously this only tests the internal circuitry, not the antenna or reception Quote
