jamesm Posted December 25, 2017 Report Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) I am curious to see how many are thinking on installing LEVIL's BOM (Broadcasting Outer Module) on their Mooney. It looks like Levil has just NORSEE certification. maximum speed (210 kt.) I am assuming this is indicated did specify in the install manual. I am wondering on how to mount it under the wing it would seem that the inspection plate mounting is too far back on the chord line. I would hate to drill holes the laminar wing mount the BOM Module http://aviation.levil.com/bom--broadcasting-outer-module-.html https://levil-aviation-powered-by-tucan.myshopify.com/products/bom-with-adsb?variant=40842969485 Thanks, JamesM '6720C Edited December 25, 2017 by jamesm Quote
jetdriven Posted December 25, 2017 Report Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) That thing has too much drag for an airplane like this but may be great for a 172. But realistically do you really want your backup attitude and navigation based on a WiFi connection to an inertial nav unit? My GoPro won’t connect to my phone when the engine is running. Inertial isn’t accurate enough to be relevant in this age of portable GPS units . And gps won’t work when it’s bolted To the bottom of the wing. And there are better ads-b solutions. It sounds like a cool-looking solution to a nonexistent problem, or one easier and cheaper solved by existing devices. Edited December 25, 2017 by jetdriven 2 Quote

Normally sales and marketing won't sign off on a project unless the target is well specified and can be profitable. Quote
Yetti Posted December 27, 2017 Report Posted December 27, 2017 (edited) You can accomplish the same with $100.00 in parts that includes a portable battery..It's called Stratux.. and not have lots of drag sitting on the wing. Edited December 27, 2017 by Yetti Quote
Piloto Posted December 27, 2017 Report Posted December 27, 2017 I would rather go with the pilot relief tube. 1 Quote

jamesm Posted December 27, 2017 Author Report Posted December 27, 2017 (edited) The reason I asked was I was looking for easy way to install an AOA without having going through all pain wiring it up. I was thinking if you could mount to inspection plate it wouldn't a simple test to try it out. But I don't think you mount on inspection plate on a Mooney. Jetdriven is right you probably wouldn't want the wifi display to drop out on you while on short finial. an the extra drag wouldn't be desired . Thanks for the inputs James '67c Edited December 27, 2017 by jamesm Quote
Hank Posted December 28, 2017 Report Posted December 28, 2017 It would be fun if it came wjth a yoke-mounted release button . . . . Quote
gsxrpilot Posted December 28, 2017 Report Posted December 28, 2017 The CYA-100 is about the easiest AOA to install. But it does require drilling and mounting in the wing. The inspection plates are too far back from the leading edge. Of course if you have an Aspen, then it's even easier to install... just add the license key and you're GTG. Quote
