Ordered some shiny vinyl from Amazon.

For Christmas gifts one year we bought stainless mugs and put people's names on them with a design

The date on the picture is 12/6/2015.   They still look good today.  For the vinyl we got it was a sampler pack of car vinyl and there is a clear layer that I was not sure if it was supposed to stay on or take off.  I think it is starting to peel.

These have stayed on for 100+ hours at 300 KTAS, so I don't think you'll peel them off your Mooney.

I had tiny stripes on my Cherokee.  They started chipping a few years in.  Kinda soured me on the concept.  If your paint ships you can touch it up.  Vinyl not so much.  Some experimental builders wrap their planes in the stuff. Sounds like a horrible idea to me, having a layer over the aluminum that can trap moisture.
