I’ll bet a coke on that (either way I win ;)).

Wild card is that I’m betting that Don won’t find a way to get a GFC600, and that’s probably a bad bet.

I’ll bet that a GFC500 (and the Dynon skyview / autopilot) are available in a Mooney by the end of 2018.

You want come coke action? ;)

Don will be installing his gfc600 in July of next year.  The gfc500 installs will begin August of next year for the c-k Mooney aircraft. I will be purchasing cases of coke (hopefully the soft drink variety) to hedge my bets :)

No coke - I want an autopilot.

Does anybody know if you HAVE to buy their autopilot?  I have a KFC 225 that is working well, knock on wood, not saying it wouldn't make sense to upgrade, just curious.

I have a well working KFC200.  I am interested in next generation digital autopilots, esp envelope protection.  But I get you are happy.  I think maintaining our old stuff is expensive in the long run.

In any case, as I understand it - the Dynon system will be all or nothing in the STC.

It's easy, buy a newer airframe with all that stuff already. :D

My understanding (still learning) is the autopilot is part of the main software.  So you are buying in anyways.  And you would need to purchase the servos and have them switched out.  Seems like the better option is to sell your working AP unit.

Ditto for ADSB, transponder, EM, etc
You have to cannibalize almost your entire panel, that is a expensive proposition for many, makes Dynon a non option for me.

Nontheless - it might be priced - lol in - such that it still makes since - considering selling back what you have - early adopters will get better price there. I too have a good engine monitor and adsb out.

Unless you don't have a "panel" and are a late adopter then it might be the most economical.  Should probably do a spreadsheet of individual vs. integrated Skyview....

If you piece it together....

I'm in the camp that has a vintage 1980 BK panel with the sole upgrade being a new Garmin navigator.  Essentially, I'm exactly the target customer for Skyview since I have the one piece they don't provide, none of the pieces they do, and an airframe that really isn't worth enough to warrant a multi-screen G500 TXi and GFC 600 setup, but is kind of too nice to go with the 172-tier GFC-500 and G5 duo.  That said, whoever gets something reasonable, either Skyview or a comparably priced G3C (the G3X, except Certified rather than eXperimental) certified for the M20K gets my money.

List looks good. Since you are quoting uninstalled prices I’d drop the aspen to 10k and the tso’d gps is needed for both systems you can take another 14 off. So let’s say 18k vs 20k and you get a much larger display and integrated AP. However, IMO you give up a lot of flexibility.

I think the trio is going to be more like 5k for parts.  Another 8-10k for labor for all.

I would leave the audio panel out of that analysis- the Dynon audio panel is only 2 place. I expect most people to use an external audio panel.

The Dynon Advanced system has a PS engineering audio panel that interfaces and is controlled by the Dynon system. It would be nice to have the option of a remote audio panel.

I believe I read where The Skyview system will use the PS Engineering remote mount.   Which would make sense as it looks like there is going to be lots of things being mounted in the avionics bay/battery compartment.   Would require rewire/rerouting the audio jacks.

The battery is already there making that part easier to wire.   I would just build a circuit breaker panel for the bay.  Put in a constant duty solenoid(or 2) and run the control wire to the front. Would remove about 7 breakers in the panel.   Still working my way through the install manual.

For the Mooney with the J and forward windshield and smaller comm access panel, having things in the bay would make the install alot easier.

Skyview can use a remote mount GPS reciever that is 2020 ADSB compliant. SV-GPS-250 for $250.00

Added back the moving map GPS

Both will need a tso’d ifr gps/nav/com unless you just want to play video games on your fancy display in the hanger. But please carry on with your creative numbers.

I don't have to cannibalize any new installs if I were to go with Dynon, no ADSB, Moritz gauges and KI-256.  The Dynon hopefully would solve a lot of future problems and provide some additional features.  I can almost guarantee it will be released for Mooney's shortly after I do some type of upgrade.  :(    I am happy with Garmin 430W's.
