I think flutter margins can be increased with increasing the mass balance of the control surfaces.  There is a limit to everything, however. I bet the Acclaim is getting pretty close.

I'm in the proces of trying to get my control surfaces to balance after paint right now, the paint is beautiful, but a tad overweight.  Reading all this makes it all that more serious, not that it wasn't before but....


I also question the balance checks (or lack of) after paint at some places. I can't believe how much paint I took off and how little I put on to be out of balance. Anyone ever participated in their balance checks after paint?
