Alan Fox Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 It is a new Concoction , Ed Kollin and TCM are testing it getting ready for certification..... Quote
Shadrach Posted June 25, 2015 Author Report Posted June 25, 2015 You guys are killing me... I'm returning to the scene tomorrow for an overnight. Hopefully the fantom won't strike again! Quote
kmyfm20s Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Put a "Go Navy" sun screen up in your windshield. It would probably be washed, waxed and polished when you get back:) Quote
aviatoreb Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Put a "Go Navy" sun screen up in your windshield. It would probably be washed, waxed and polished when you get back:) Put "Go Army" on the sun screen and come back to find a mule tied to the prop. Quote
bonal Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Put a "Go Navy" sun screen up in your windshield. It would probably be washed, waxed and polished when you get back:) But don't be surprised if its painted in perfect navy blue and golden yellow when you return Quote
aviatoreb Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 But don't be surprised if its painted in perfect navy blue and golden yellow when you return That sounds kinda nice. Fly to Annapolis. Go to the gift shop and buy a $25 window shade. Wait 24 hours and fly home with a beautiful new paint job. Good deal! Quote
bonal Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 I think a Blue Angels paint job on a Mooney would look sweet with a big number 7 on the tail Quote
fantom Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 Not as sweet as the red, white and blue of the Thunderbirds. IIRC someone did just that on a Mooney about 15 years ago. Trust it wasn't our recent troll Quote
Hank Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 I have to agree, the Tbirds have a great paint scheme. But having recently seen both groups perform, it confirmed my prior memories: the Blues are more accurate. The AF loops were oval [tall and thin] vs. round, and when crossing formations were done, timing was visibly off for at least one aircraft. Zoom! three planes cross, here comes #4 a half second behind. Honestly, though, the worst of them is far better and more precise than I will ever be. The Navy could take some lessons in exciting paint jobs, too. As for shenanigans on the ground, do you reckon that anyone in the FBO realized that you came down from near USMA, Erik? Just a little good natured rivalry? Quote
