Piloto, sorry to tell you this but Sumo wrestlers are Japanese. There are no more Sumo wrestlers in China than there are in USA.

I wonder if this is a confusion by a non-aviation business magazine... Mooney recently announced they had completed the paperwork filing for a Chinese registered Mooney. Changed the N registration to Chinese equivilant for export.

The stand out part of this story........

17 planes, 4 companies, and ONE PRIVATE BUYER.

China may have come a long way over night.

How does a private buyer exist in a communist country?

Or was that a foreign private buyer?

The story needs some follow-up with some back-up photos before any judgements can be made...

I think there is too much lost in translation...

I'm not sure the plane was really built in China. The press releases being released over there do not agree with ones released over here. Perhaps they flew it over and then put some Chinese numbers on it and other markings on it (final assembly).

There are lots of rich people owning all kinds of expensive things over there. The video below shows the spoiled Chinese elite of today. This man was dissatisfied with Lamborghini's customer service, so he paid to have this done-

There are currently over one million Chinese millionaires. Yes, there are lots of folks there that can afford to fly. If the government opens up the airspace an private flying takes hold, Watch Out!!

there is a picture of the China plane in the latest issue of the Mooney Flyer, page 4. It also says the plane was built in Kerrville, disassembled and shipped to China and re assembled.

And I would bet all the tea in China (sorry), they can't even reassemble an airframe straight and correct. They'll steal rivets and bolts from a golf club factory if they have to. I am highly skeptical and disappointed over all of this. They day the jigs leave Texas, it'll be game over.

Maybe not over, but certainly changed, just like the times. The Chinese paid for the privilege to make up the rules for their 'game.'

I say we make a new federal trade law. Types certs may be bought and used abroad, but wouldn't become intellectual property of the Chinese. Let 'em build and screw them up. Residual intellectual property could be retained and recreated for american purposes and consumption in the future. Why not? What they haven't bought from us honestly, they have stolen. The world could then choose which Mooney they want. American made or Chinese made.
