The Mooney Ambassadors will be highlighted on AOPA Live TV interview on Thursday at 12:40 p.m. [Oshkosh time!]  We are doing a fair amount of press and trying to get the word out about Mooney and promoting general aviation.  Check out AOPA.org, you should be able to link to AOPA Live.

Horray!

Here is the line up for AOPA Live tomorrow, see attached photo.  We feel pretty lucky to be between Tom Poberezny and Dick Rutan! It is also wonderful to see Mooney in there with Cessna, Piper and Terrafugia.

Great job guys!  I'd recommend specific goals for next year like:

- Save one airport each year

- One fly-in targeted at the non-flying public (computer flight sim enthusiasts, etc.)

- One dessert potluck flyin in California (okay that one's for me).

Thanks for all you do for the Mooney community!

It's great that "someone" is speaking on behalf of Mooney Aircraft...But I worry this sends a mixed message to potential new Mooney customers.  The unspoken message here is that the company is so broke it can't even send a rep to OSH.  Not the kind of strategic communications message a company that's trying to get back on its feet should send to prospective aircraft buyers.   The complete lack of a corporate vision message and the void of any substantial leadership from Mooney Aircraft Company are disheartening.  I say this note as a pesimistic nay-sayer, but in the hope that someone who actually works for Mooney steps up and starts to actively engage with the press and aviation public.

MAPA was at OSH to represent Mooney...of course sans the corporate presence.  When I enquired about potential start-up and completion of existing aircraft a gal said all partially constructed planes have been completed...this was contrary to what I had previously read...She said also that parts business has been brisk and steady.  Good to hear.  The recession will end and there will again be a market for the Kerrville speedster.  I am NOT holding my breath though...

It is what it is George...At least they are making parts and still viable.  If they don't know when they are going to re-start and therefore don't have a strategic message wouldn't their presence do more harm than good...and spend money they don't have for travel etc.?  Thanks Ambassadors for keeping the Mooney brand out there!  All we need is tort reform and some reasonably priced certified aircraft and aviation will flourish...But NOT when lawyers are there to make the companies pay for killing their dad/mom/sister/brother/dog/cat.

I am in violent agreement wrt Tort reform...you'll get no arguments there, but the absence of a message is no message at all.  Mooney has to have enough $$ to put someone on a plane or in a car to go represent the brand.  IMHO - Not attending OSH is a strategic blunder regardless of any fiscal constraints.

You are right, we do need an event in the Midwest at a time other than Oshkosh.  Unfortunately due to my traveling for work.  I never know when I will be home.  I feel like currently I am just off of the Ambassadors schedule.  Just finished up 5 weeks of work in Denver and am no longer in the area for the event, hosted by Alen, at the end of the month.  Now it looks like Canada for 3-5 Months.  Well at least I may have the oportunity to meet Russ.  Maybe I can not plan a event at this time, but I can keep traveling and meeting great Mooney owners everywhere I go!

That's the spirit Bob.  We just scheduled an event in Louisiana in early October.

2010 Cane River Aviation Rendezvous, October 8th-10th, 2010 Natchitoches Regional Airport, Louisiana.  A good old fashioned fly-in complete with pancake breakfast, community involvement and a hangar dance with a big band. Point Person: Michael Gusko.  http://caneaviation.com/

Jolie and Mitch, I just listened to the AOPA live podcast, and would like to expand this further at next years Air Venture to perhaps a daily spot with the announcer and perhaps even small 30 second infomercials that I could play thru out the day to promote and encourage other pilots to promote GA, To that extent I am forwarding this Podcast to Wayne Fluery, and will remind him as we get closer to next years Air Venture. Great job.
