aerohawk Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 I need a couple new gas caps for my money anyone have any recomendations for good locking cap replacements. I would prefer something that is just drop and play. If all else fails does anyone know if the Cessna fuel cap p/n 99321 would work?
M20F Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 If your reason for wanting new caps is because they are leaking water replacing the two o-rings generally fixes that.
aerohawk Posted October 30, 2014 Author Report Posted October 30, 2014 The one fuel cap I i have no longer locks down and the adjustment seems to be maxed out.
DAVIDWH Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 Have you talked with Don Maxwell, Maxwell Aviation? 903-643-9902 Email: service@donmaxwell.com
carusoam Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 The cam feature on the cap wears a lot. People have reported repairing the cam by adding weld materials and filing to shape. (Ask your mechanic) I am not familiar. Just reporting what I have seen here. Buying new caps is expensive (did that once). Best regards, -a-
BobAustin Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 I have a spare cap from my M20J. I took off w/o locking down the lever and had to buy a replacement...then found the original cap. You are welcome to it for no charge. Probably needs new o rings. Send me a PM with your address and I can send it to you. 2

Steve65E-NC Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 New fuel caps?? Contact Shaw Industries, Naples, FL. Over $360 each when I checked several years ago. Advise going to a machine shop with advanced aluminum welding technology. Talk to your A&P first.
C-FRJI Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 I have couple of spare caps. Two older ones for a C or E and one that is for the reduced opening. If you still need a cap, email me at barry.franklin@sympatico.ca Cheers, Barry
RobertGary1 Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 Usually you just repair them. Not locking down may just be a need for annual maintenance. The caps should be torn down at annual the internal seal replaced the shaft lubed and the tension adjusted. Easy owned task.
KSMooniac Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 I might have a pair that will work as well. I got them several years ago as spares for my J, but they turned out to be the wrong ones. If you share a pic or part number, I'll check against what I have.
