kmyfm20s Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 I was flying home from work on 9/16 when I watched this storm form and dissipate in a 30 minute period. It sat directly above my home field and didn't move. Luckily I decided not to beat it in when I saw it forming and maneuvered around for 30 minutes letting it do it's thing. It was apparent when I landed it was the correct choice by the damage that occurred. This is something I have never seen in San Diego. I will add some photos of the damage on the ground. Quote

kmyfm20s Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 All these planes where tied down. I didn't get the picture of the hangar that was lifted up and took out several planes but will see if I can find one. Quote

ArtVandelay Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 That poor guy with the Prius, if that's his plane sitting on his car, that;s when you know you are having a bad day. I can imagine his phone call to the insurance companies ... Quote
triple8s Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Car vs Plane.......I dont really drive a clunker however I dont give a rats azz bout the car or truck I drive as long as it is dependable, I wouldnt trade the worst raggedy old Mooney for a brand new Vette if I couldnt have an airplane too. I hear it from Wifey all the time about how much I care about the plane and how little I seem to care about her car or my truck. No comparison. Sure hate to see all those birds hurt. Quote
carusoam Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Efficiency... Killing two stones with one bird! -a- 1 Quote
chrisk Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 If you ever thought about flying through a thunderstorm, this should convince you that it would be a bad idea. Â I'd love to see more pictures if you have them. 1 Quote
