That's a lotta stuff for two in the bag seat.  That airplane is one big suitcase!

I am a little more generous than your average airline on carry on bags.

Carry all the bags you want Bob!

Last month we flew from Austin, Tx into Ely MN with the two kids for 4 days in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

It was a 10 minute drive from Ely, so our outfitter had no problem coming out and picking us up at KELO.

All my flying is for business so it was great to get the kids in the plane and have some fun.

It was *tough* getting the canoe strapped to the top of the Mooney...  B)

Mission accomplished, 9.5 on the Hobbs since yesterday morning but got my bride home from MA. Priceless.

I watched your return trip today Bob. Looked like the weather cooperated at the right time. It was nice meeting you! Thanks for the visit.

BTW -- I finally have evidence that FlightAware is not that accurate! I was listening to your landing at KLNS and looking at FlightAware at the exact same time. When you were cleared to land, this is what FlightAware was showing:

My fuel stop at KLNS was not nearly as pleasant as N57! Great to see you, we'll have to do it again.

Weather was much nicer today. And winds had turned around and I had very little headwinds. I did have to shoot an approach when I got back to KMRN but it was practically in line with inbound course and I broke out at about 1000' so no delay.

The pic is on my way to N57. Nancy would have had a fit with all the traffic...

Flew longest CC to date for us 1o2 to MSO Missoula today had to delay a day for all the convective activity. Flight was so smokey had to descend to about 3000 AGL just to see fuel stop BKE total flight time about 4.5 hours followed an air bus on final real awesome mountains along the Snake river. Nice flight but so much smoke from so many fires.

What you are seeing for traffic is my biggest motivation to find a solid solution. The "corridors" around here (north side of the SFRA and below Camp David and the area east of the SFRA sandwiched between it and Philly's Class B are packed with VFR planes. I do a fair amount of trips down to the shore & beaches and on a nice summer day, they're swarming!

I would love to put a full traffic system in, but the cost along with what my ADS-B upgrade will run just isn't in the budget.

I have seen what the TIS-B looks like on my iPad when I was a parasite and got the hockey puck coverage. It is amazing how much traffic is out there and even more amazing how much of it I couldn't see.

Glad to hear all is well, thanks for the wine! Yummy!

My Mooney served me especially well this Month.   She came out of the wire shop the first week of July and it was game on.  45.2 hours total flight time and lots of weather.

The high spots:

VA (kbkt) to Boothbay Harbor Maine and back for a four day weekend with my bride.  Fantastic trip with a great view of NYC along our route.

VA to TX with my 18 year old to see my Pop.   Left on a Thursday and enjoyed a great over night stop in Memphis.  Sat with Dad on Friday then back to VA with one fuel stop on Saturday.

VA to TX again last Wednesday with the wife and son.  Nice layover in Nashville followed by two days in TX and back to VA in one day yesterday.

Throw in a couple of day trips for business and it's been a heck of a July.

One thing that my son and I both noticed, it seemed like there were lots of Mooneys on the freq.  We file IFR most always and we were amazed how many other Mooniacs we encountered.  I've decided to keep a log so I can check this site.     Second thought- GDL88 is great to have when your mingling in the DFW airspace.  It's fantastic in helping spot traffic.

KIWI? We were there 7/12-19! Parked at KIWI, family lives in Bristol below Damariscotta. Love that routing over KJFK @ 6000.

Yes, the routing was fantastic.  Controllers were busy.  I heard a commuter ask for direct a certain fix and the controller replied "why do you want to go there?".  After a long pause he repeated the request and the controller replied "No, you don't need to go there, go direct xxxxx instead".  The pilot was speechless.  Too funny.

Our stay was 7/11-14.  I'll check my photos to see if I can see your plane!

I think I parked beside you when I arrived. You were gone when I made a round trip over to KLCI 7/17.

Last week I made the first voyage that defined my recent purchase of a J to support business travel. Kint - kfxe - 600NM straight line, with deviations for weather both ways was over 1300 NM round trip, 9 hours and less than 85 gal avgas Round trip

So much more relaxing and flexible than commercial, took less time, and did I say much much more fun!

As a former Cessna owner really enjoying getting to know my "new to me" Mooney - starting to understand the meaning of Mooniac !
