Suggestions on recovering old plastic wood grain panel??

The plastic shrink wrap will come off this old panel. Anyone have experience with "water transfer printing", which looks really cool, but it also looks pricey? Any suggestions?

I agree.  Just an opinion, but I think the alumimum panels look more modern.

You could always use the wood veneer of your choice. Lots of colors and grain patterns available.

I just painted mine with Krylon pending my new glass panel--could be years away.

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. Our plan is to stay vintage and true to original, BUT we will eventually be going to a modern aluminum panel when the 430W, etc. go in. The original panel just needs a makeover that should last 1-3 years. I think we'll try for another wood grain overlay and if that doesn't work, we'll put a coat of Krylon and call it done. Happy flying!

Seats look fantastic! Honestly, genuine simulated authentic replica's of wood look like crap to me...Our Mooney's old shotgun panels might be vintage...but they are ugly and not functional. I would paint the co-pilot side and have a modern eight pack done on the left. This would leave a little vintage, but update the pilot instrument layout. Nothing to do with the center stack (your 430 reference) Your refurb DESERVES the pilot side update...Git 'r done.

Did I say your seats look AWESOME?....They do.
