RocketAviator Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 After the last few days, I needed a little aviation levity… so just now at work I was pursing through Mooneyspace and looking through 201er's Mooney Expedition St. Vincent, Wet Arrival images and telling my wife how neat it was, when my she walked by looked over my shoulder and said he looks really young…. Then she said as she walked away…. Looks like your Mooney thing is like your Corvette thing!!! I said NOW what is that supposed to mean I said…? Without missing a beat she calmly said: seems that the only people who have Corvettes and Mooney’s are young guys who like fast things and old guys going through a mid-life crises…. chuckle... chuckle.. I said gosh dear that is sweat of you to say that you still think of me as a young guy….. For my own self esteem I won't repeat what her response was…….!! By the way just to set the record straight I bought the Corvette for her …. When asked about it she says “yea it looked good but there was no place to put the groceries and we had 3 kids at home at the time for a two seat car…” Yea I said but the kid (whichever one was lucky enough to be the one she took that day) really liked the ride to school….!!! 5 Quote
kmyfm20s Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Hmmm....I wonder if our wife's play Bunko together? 1 Quote
Bennett Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 When I was young, I raced a Corvette (SCCA). Now I drive a SL500 as my weekend two seater. I admit I'm old, and as much as I would like a new Stingray convertible (available next year), it is really too much a young man's ride for me. On the other hand, my Mooney is perfectly "age appropriate" 2 Quote
fantom Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Mooney and Corvette when young. Mooney and Porsche when grown up. 5 Quote
KSMooniac Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 By the way just to set the record straight I bought the Corvette for her …. Did you buy her a table saw the next year too? 2 Quote
Danb Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Bennett you are so right. Since I'm on social security and quite young my 2 seater is also a sl 550 and fly my mooney...what's wrong with those women!!!! And that age thingie Quote

RocketAviator Posted December 13, 2013 Author Report Posted December 13, 2013 Hey there Scott, I resemble that remark...what kind of cheapskate do you think I am.... ? Once again I have to set the record straight...A tablesaw, no way that was for me! I bought her a BOAT..... Now what is that I hear.... The sound of a fast approaching humble apology... Only the best for our wives, we even bought Mooney's for them.... And we all say Here, here RIGHT! 2 Quote
carusoam Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 My C4 has an automatic trans... for her. Bought pre-kids. I'm looking forward to the SL500 after the college experience. I'm not sure when the Porsche fits in. I got my first Porsche ride at a MAPA training session. I better get started... I'm sharing this humor with my wife...hope it works out... Best regards, -a- Quote
M016576 Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Mooney and a 2002 jetta. What's that make me? Fuel conscious? 2 Quote
Htwjr Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 That's funny, I've got a Mooney and a 2002 Jetta TDI. Efficient! Quote

Seth Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Back to a way early thread on this board, how many of us had a BMW e39 M5? I think the count was 8 or 9? -Seth Quote
TWinter Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 I have my Mooney and 2013 C6 Grand Sport..This was the last year for the C6 was my justification. Since I'm now 50 I guess I call the Corvette "Mid-Life Management", I've had five vettes prior to this one though so I guess maybe not mid-life, just an addiction. 2 Quote
RocketAviator Posted December 13, 2013 Author Report Posted December 13, 2013 Lacee. Hope you also got her that rubber ducky thing in case he'd toe gets stuck in the drain. Lol ! Well Dan, this has turned out to be one tough crowd. As I am fond of saying the Saga continues.... and looks like I need to set the record straight again... That dang boat has now caused me to have to get her a lake house, and most recently a new boat dock with a water slide..... I had no idea when she said if you get a Mooney I get a lake house.... she was serious... But one good thing is the lake house is 550KtNM away so she needs the Mooney to get her there!!! For that matter everywhere one would want to go & especially for water is a long way from El Paso....! So can I get a little empathy here... 1 Quote
N601RX Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 That's funny, I've got a Mooney and a 2002 Jetta TDI. Efficient! I have a mooney and a 2001 TDI Jetta that has 405,000 miles on it! It still gets 50mpg and I drive it to work every day. 3 Quote

The former owner of my plane has a similar tale... at some point during ownership of his Ovation (after my J) his wife got the boat/lake house itch and they've got something on Lake of the Ozarks. Then it became difficult to get "everyone" to the lake from Wichita, and especially to Chiefs games in KC, so the upgrade plane turned into a King Air 200! You really end up chasing your tail when toys and upgrades lead to other toys and upgrades. Of course the KA200 didn't fit in his nice Taj Mahangar at the local airpark, so he *had* to build another new, bigger hangar... Quote

Aviator Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 First Vette was a 1972 in 1972, currently driving a 1999 C5 and considering trading for a 2014. First Mooney was a 1989 J in 1992, currently flying a 2004 R. Wife is in a constant state of disbelief. Don't feel old. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 1 Quote
