  1. Im not in the market to pay a premium price then drop 20k fixing it before i even get to the panel. Im not talking about minor squaks either im talking leaking wings and cracked cylinders. In my experiences they told me everything was solid because it just had an annual. I found out otherwise. I am miffed because the planes were misrepresented and i had to find out on my dime. Also miffed because they dont want to negotiate a new price after misrepresenting the aircraft.
  2. I lost my Rocket when I manifold pressure at 17k feet. It blew a valve and lost oil. Rolled of the runway on an emergency landing I am a reasonable guy. I look at other planes on the market and try to ascertain a value. It really gets me they dont want to talk turkey when there are airworthiness issues.
  3. I guess what really gets me is the attitude when i tell them im going to have to put money into it just to make it AIRWORTHY never mind the panel work im going to have get to have radios made in this century and adsB compliant. Then they dont want to negotiate price.
  4. Been grounded ever since the crash last September. I've dying to get back in the air. I've looked at 4 planes and done 3 prebuys. Every time I got the same song and dance. The plane is perfect condition and you're stealing it from me. So far I've met 3 MF liars. Plane 1 forgot to mention the gear up. Prebuy finds a cracked cylinder. 3 pages of other squaks. Passed on that one Plane 2 2 bad cylinders leaking wings inop avionics. O2 bottle about to expire. Didnt want to budge in price. You can keep that POS A$$hole Plane 3 encore rocket cherry condition only 200 hrs. Talked him into a reasonable price. He tells me if there is something wrong with it he would be shocked. Then I got a prebuy. 2 bad cylinders one BC with compressions in the 20s. Not sure why I'm surprised the dip$hit told me he was keeping the TIT at 1650. Didn't want to budge in price. Tells me he can replace the cylinders for 1200$ each. Try 2000$ plus labor numbnuts and it won't be long before it needs a topend overhaul. Oh yeah and the fuel injectors are leaking. Acts like I'm insulting him and my mechanic must be trying to take me for a ride. Plans to sell it at osh kosh for his asking price. Good luck with that @$$hole. May you hit a pothole parking it. Is there no honesty anymore? / rant off I guess I'm being too picky. Go ahead flame away. FML I just want my rocket back . tired of paying for prebuys to find your lemons
  5. hey Guys it was me I was cruising along at 17000 ft making 232 knots GS perfect TIT when i suddenly lost manifold pressure. I setup for best glide and feathered the prop and glided to Chilton county airport. I landed long and ran out of runway. i kept thinking of Bob Hoovers maxim fly it all the way into the crash. I walked away unharmed but my plane is probably totaled . I have gone through a wide range of emotions. Thank God Im unhurt, thank God i was in a Mooney, heartbroken that my plane is in a crumpled heap, embarrassment that i couldnt make a better landing, sadness that it may be a long time before i can fly again. I started looking for other planes but i felt like i was cheating on my plane. I couldnt imagine being happy flying another plane at the end of the day the plane is replaceable and I am not. i will post pics later.
  6. it is likely a bearing failure in the king Attitude indicator. clean or overhaul the attitude indicator . i had the same problem and it was finally diagnosed after 3 trips to triumph avionics after being serviced 6 mos prior
  7. Looks cool. reminds me of the bicycle powered airplane that crossed the channel when i was young. ? icarus maybe? I would hate to do a quartering tailwind landing on feet. the Swiss sure know how to engineer stuff that works.
  8. rotorcraft dont actually fly , they are just so ugly the earth repels them. if the plane should should fall out the sky just lean over and kiss your a$$ good bye ( Air Force passenger briefing)
  9. Phil had my engine almost full throttle with the cowling off several times with no leaks. it would always leak new oil out of the breather tube, worse on prolonged 1600 fpm climbs. havent lost much oil since the oil/air seperator. the Airwolf is like 3 times bigger than the original which was meant for a four cylinder. hangar is clean and and i am happy.
  10. Mine did this until i got an Airwolf oil/air separator and stopped climbing at 1600 fpm every flight. not a drop since. the original oil air separator is meant for a 4 cylinder. it did take some adjusting to get it perfect though. Phil Jimenez did the work and can probably talk you through the pitfalls. many dissuaded me from getting it but it fixed the problem.
  11. i feel the need for speed. Mooney Rocket and Nissan GT-R http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/34124-/ I have a 2006 tdi jetta too but it is chipped.
  12. this. im sure a lot of rocket owners would upgrade.
