I'd like to know if anyone has altered or if the seats can be altered legally to have a higher back and head rest that actually works.

My 77j seats also suffer from the seat back adjustment slipping off the cam. Anyone modified it?

I bought some head rests from a 2000 four runner and am going to somehow modify the extensions to be higher and transition the adjustable darkest farther forward.

Since the seats are removable and reinstall able in 5 min I'd even buy a non Tso seat if it was comfortable.

On this subject.....does anyone know if seat rails are the same for all model year 201's? If you have a 77, will 91 MSE seats use the same track/rail dimensions? I have never pursued an upgrade or salvage purchase not knowing the answer to this.

Good question,

If width a bit off, not too difficult to lift one track and re-rivet. (Would first check on Obama-Care web site as to the legality of this one)  Just had new tracks installed in 95 M-20R as old ones were

basically non-functional. Tracks came from Kerrville and install was done locally. A&P kept muttering something about "Show me the money." Anyway, it's finished.

When I upgraded my seats Hector at AeroComfort told me they were all the same frame-rail wise. I bought a set off Fleabay that were from a different model and year and they fit fine. You might double check with him, but I think your answer is "Yes".

Hector just did my seats and he said that my frame didn't support a head rest so there are some differences.  It might be worth a call to to Aero Comfort and talk to Hector.  He's about as knowledable about our seats as anyone I know.  He can transform any pretty lousy seats into something that you will not believe.

The cross section (extrusion) of the seat rails are the same.  The amount of milling (relief) to allow removal of the seat is different (but may in fact not matter).  The width and installation oif the rails in the airframe is the same, therefore the seats are interchangable.
