  1. If we had self control we wouldn’t own an airplane. [emoji6]
  2. Might want to find out the current wait time is (and I would double whatever estimate they give you) to get new before making a decision.
  3. I disabled it after the first flight, call me old fashion but I prefer the simplicity of the classic AI instrument.
  4. No need, and mechanical devices need to be used but not abused if you want them to be dependable, so I would used SB. I reserve slips for cross wind landings.
  5. I don’t see how you could extend the seat back, you’d have to extend the frame, I can imagine that being approved. Is there any standard certified seats have to meet, like being able ti withstand 25 G loads or something similar? Seats without headrests look so antiquated, like they belong in a 1950s car.
  6. I personally wouldn’t want their advertising on the panel, I assume you can ask them not to do that.
  7. Didn’t we go through this before? I vaguely remember Avidyne promising support for Mooneys after introducing DFC90.
  8. Except you’re going to lose a 1/2 hour or more making a pit stop. I have no experience, but think you would use a diaper as a backup in case you have an accident.
  9. FYI, the factory sets the limits based on the specific airplane at order time, the buyer will likely need to send it back to the factory to have it reprogrammed.
  10. If you plan on upgrading (new panel), the Js price range has a much higher top end so you’ll get more value when it comes time to sell. Later Js did have more sound proofing as I recall, the fully articulated seats, etc all added to the empty weight which is why they increased the MGW. My 78 noise level is 95+dB if the app on my iPhone is accurate, but doesn’t seem excessive to me.
  11. I think it’s the blue dye that leaves a residue, just like if you have a leaking fuel tank?
  12. But it’s useful load a wee bit less than the F150. [emoji1]
  13. I’m no expert, but I preferred a more southern route, highest terrain is somewhere around 8500’, and I think generally has better weather. KSNA PDZ CAPTZ V442.HEC GCN TAFOY FTI CIM BRK KAPA
  14. If you travel cross country (not just $100 hamburger runs) and fly IFR, then I think you need to keep all your databases updated. If just local VFR trips, then sure, save a few bucks.
  15. You were told wrong, some probes are different but the EGT and CHT probes are identical part numbers.
  16. Mine is the same, I was thinking of trying the snubber, but now I think I’ll leave it alone, FP varies 23.5-28.5 at 6000’. It seems to vary more at higher altitudes, maybe 15-25 at 12,000’.
  17. The 830 uses identical (same part #s) CHT/EGT probes as the 900 (yes, it’s smaller than the 930, about the same size as the 830.
  18. I can do GTN Xi to G3X, and the G3X will transfer plan to my Aera 660. Mine definitely does not take flight plans from my iPad and GP doesn’t even show the Connext symbol until you switch to internal mode and if you switch back it just seemingly ignores you. In internal mode it works as expected. There’s major differences between my system and everyone else’s. I have Xi and I’m using Garmin Pilot and the certified version of G3X. Most, if not all working examples are using the original GTN, FF, or experimental version or some combination of all. Garmin has built a version of my panel in their lab and they’re going to try to recreate the problem. I sent my shop a link to a video showing the issue which they’re going to forward to Garmin, so we’ll see.
  19. I don’t see lack of oil consumption as a red flag. If the oil isn’t getting to the cylinder walls, then yes. I would borescope the cylinders. I never remember needing to add oil between oil changes (12-15k miles) on any modern cars I’ve owned, so that alone isn’t a problem.
  20. I see only the 750, do you have a 2nd nav/com?
  21. It’s been a while, but I thought the 12v+ was a bus bar (strip of copper, all the terminals should align nicely if it’s the same type), he’s not referring to the main bus bar.
  22. Interesting mine should have been the same as yours, which make me think one of us had their switch replaced at some point, I wonder if there is a way to tell which switch corresponds to which Mooney part number?
  23. The other thing to check is the carbon monoxide level when heat is on. A hole in the muffler can end up forcing exhaust gases directly into the cabin.
  24. I thought the 20 is the amperage, the -# is the text., but you’re correct.
  25. I have one, but part number is -3? This was also off a 78 J.
