How about coating them with grease to make it harder or maybe they wouldn’t want to get their paws greasy?

Buy one if those wildlife cameras that are motion activated, maybe you can catch them in the act.

It’s not OEM and I guess was a repair. OEM are external shielded and the other is internal shielded. Schematic shows extra wire off a starter relay going to another relay, but it’s not labeled

Looking at the starter switch, it looks like one of the magneto (right?) has a thicker wire than the other 20-22 gauge wires, why? The magneto wires go to a small cylinder mounted to the firewall, maybe a capacitor? The starter relay has 2 wires connected to what I call the control terminal, 1 wire would be the starter switch, and the other? Is there a schematic of this circuitry?

Modern avionics all have voltage regulators that’s why they can handle 12 or 24 volt systems. As long as the current is steady it shouldn’t be an issue.

My AV20S reads lower, but not that much.

Wow, I had G3X and 3 servo GFC500 installed for $30K, and that includes new panels. I think the smaller the job, the more the “overhead” costs add up.

I live 200 yards from ocean and get surface salt layer on my car, but the airport is about 5 miles inland and it doesn’t seem to get any in normal weather conditions. Salt attracts water so it’s heavy and will sink (dew) which is why you get the surface salt layer. Now if it was tied down during tropical storms that could be a different story. Normally airports insist that all tied down planes be either hangared or flown elsewhere.

I leave the open end secured behind the GTN which has a fan but figure if needs a fan it can benefit from some cooling air. Not sure if water could make its way up the entire length but I wouldn’t want a direct connection.

Yes, but this was before Covid: Zephyr did the engine overhaul, and I had Palm Beach Propeller overhaul the prop. I had a cracked case that couldn’t be repaired and replaced it with new case that added around +$4k to the cost. I replaced the alternator (was oversized and not a normal Mooney alternator) with new. The starter was only year or so old, so I didn’t do anything to it. I replaced all the control cables with new. Stripped and repainted the engine mount frame. Disassembled the baffling and replaced the silicone, had a broken piece replaced with new fabricated one, replaced rusted and broken hot air intake screen with stainless steel. Painted all the sheet metal to be black. The oil cooler was replaced by PO, so didn’t do anything but flush it. Replace some of the hardware on the flaps. Problem missing something, because of the cracked case it took 4 months , was scheduled to take 2. I did some of the work and the hours AP charged was double his non written estimate. I told the AP to mount the engine higher to allow it room to sag. He didn’t do that, now my engine sits a little lower than ideal.
