Just got back from Disney's Planes with my kids. I went into it and expected the worst. The story was very predictable and the characters were not nearly as developed as they could have been. I lost count of the number of FAR's violated but really enjoyed the movie. I especially liked the flying scenes and aviation theme and the scenery around the world. My favorite scene is when Dusty is flying into NYC airspace. ATC gives him a SID and vectors rapid fire. The farm boy obviously never has talked to ATC and just heads for the runway, almost getting run over by a commercial jet! Classic!!

I would recommend it to all pilots. Just don't expect too much and it will be fun. I looked as closely as I could and didn't see one Mooney. That was the biggest disappointment.

Took my son, who is 3.  First movie he's seen in theater.  He absolutely loved it.  But then, he's already got an airplane obsession.  Not sure where he picked that up...

I found it entertaining, but yes, it's aimed at a 3 year old demographic.  Do not expect realism or FAR compliance.

We went to see this on Thursday while we were on vacation and it was raining.  (kids 8 & 10)  Theatre was completely packed and it sold out :45 minutes before show start.  Well before the theatre went dark to show the :30 of previews.  :-)

We all thought it was really good and hopefully it will plant some seeds in those young minds for future pilots.  It was nowhere near as good as Cars but that one would be hard to top anyhow.  Definitely worth the $$ if you've got little ones.

I was out of town on business and had the night free so I have to admit to attending it by myself without any kids.  I know I was the only adult without a kid next to me.  SInce I had missed it at OSH, I was interested to see it it matched the hype.  I can say that I did enjoy it, and yes, it did have some holes in it, but for a cartoon full of talking airplanes, it did try to match the physics of flight failrly close.  Having two of my favorite planes, the Gee Bee R-2 and the Corsair, was an added bonus.  I'm building my airplane crazy grandson a P-51 peddle plane from Aviation Products and I think we are going to paint it in the Dusty theme now.  I did catch myself scanning the planes in the crowd for a backwards tail, but didn't see one, just a bunch of Cessna and Piper look-a-likes.
