EDIT: Now 225$ for the set of fine wire plugs.

For sale is a set of (8) Autolite XL (bought out by Tempest) spark plugs P/N URHM38S with 220 hours SNEW. All LOP and all hours since May, 2nd, 2011.

Our new engine takes UREM38s, which have the smaller cap (Slick harness). They do not fit the new engine. These plugs are ready to go, with no defects, and will run down to ~120 LOP with balanced injectors. It will also run smooth during a 50 LOP mag check. No plug fouling on taxi, no extra cranking durung starts, no rough idle, no drama. Every 50 hours take a piece of .032 safety wire and clean the lead from the bottom plugs and reinstall. No spark plug cleaner required. The price just went up again to $64.75 each from Spruce. Thats $518 for a set of spark plugs. :( I know, I know, just had to buy a whole new set today.

The upside is they last 2000 hours or more with the iridium coating, meaning these plugs have 1800 hours left.

You can have them for 375$. Make it back in a year or two on fuel.

Quick question for you.....so one of the benefits of these plugs is the long time between replacement?  Any other benefits?  Maybe a dumb question but how long do regular plugs last?  Finally I have a IO-360 A1A...will these fit my engine?  Thanks....Ray

Read the part number from your plugs or from service records. There are URHM and UREM.   The cap sizes are different. Threads in the head are the same.

I feel strongly enough about fine wires I ordered a new set today to fit my harnesses.  IIRC regular plugs lasat 500-800 hours.  Search fine wire plugs.

Some if us spent 80 hours last week in the hangar swapping engines, some of us spent the past 3 weeks drinking and riding around in boats.  :)  I will let you folks decide who is what. :)

The A3B6 is still 1700$ cheaper than the B6, but yes, you will eat up all that in the cost of swapping engines. Try ordering hoses from teh parts catalog every single one was a different length.  My new 124J hoses fit perfect.

ALso, the plugs are now 300$.    Someone take them.

How did I miss this?  We have to get rid of the fine wire spark plugs and buy a new set?  Chalk this up to one more expense associated with going from the A3B6 to the A3B6D..

Also where is your post selling the spark plugs that came on the new engine?  (Since presumably you are going to buy more fine wire ones..)
