I have the icy breeze I wish I got the artic cooler they do the same thing but the icy breeze is big a bulky and tough to get it in and out without it spilling. It cools the plane down though and works really well and I am down in Florida on the west coast it’s as hot as can be you have to have something to cool the plane down

That's alright, it will reach nearly 60° there this afternoon! While here, it's a balmy 86° (feels like 90) at 1030, and still warming up.

Big fan of JetShades. You can get a great discount at OSH too. The hand-made solutions are great but I just thought the JetShades looked and probably worked the best. Plus I’m financially irresponsible so it’s a good option for me, I guess.

Other than what everyone else has mentioned (door open, get off the ground soon, altitude, vent), my secret is that I’ve become the youngest snowbird I know. F this heat.

I see, you ran to the north.

About thee years ago, I reinstalled the original factory curtains that I removed decades ago for looking “dated”. That has proved to be a huge improvement for passenger comfort. The kids can completely block out the sun in the back and it adds a layer of dead air between the window and curtain. Heat complaints on the ground remain but are usually mitigated by prop wash and an open door.. I have an uninstalled Kool scoop but am trying to figure out how to mount it in a way that makes it easily removable.

Let us know if you come up with a solution.

What I have seen some people do is to cut off the mount and hinge and just place it in the window, then remove and toss in a seat back pocket

I was wondering if the scoop (sans mount, hinges, etc.) would be falling out all the time.  Looks like the storm window latch may be holding yours in place?

Not andy, but yes. Another member here 3d printed one for me that I use from time to time. Here's pics of his test-fit.

Also since we're talking about cooling options, I added a picture of 26C with Jetshades installed. Looks so good.

I wonder if that member would print more, for a price, or release the 3D print file?

If your plane is sitting on the ramp, and you are in south florida heat, nothing will cool.
The ac broke on my Aerostar  in Vegas, it was 111 degrees when I got to the plane on the ramp at 10am!

I thought altitude would cool me down, well at 19k and 20deg it still took 45 min to stop sweating! Probably wouldn’t take that long in a Mooney because they are leaky compared to a pressurized plane, but once the mass of metal is 100deg, it takes a while…
likewise, if you can precool your plane it helps too.
I’ve put a portable ac in the plane for a few hours before departure before. It absolutely helped, but wasnt worth the hassle. The kool scoop works much better than anyone thinks until they own one.
