Smith Fuqua Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 Where is the best place to get Mooney parts? We have an M are are struggling a bit. Anyone have any ideas?
toto Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 The factory is in business and making parts - it may take a little while, but anecdotally it sounds like almost anything is orderable from Mooney. You might give them a call or fill out a contact form on the website. https://mooney.com

All factory parts are purchased through Mooney Service Centers (MSCs). There is a list at https://mooney.com/contact-2/#:~:text=MOONEY SERVICE CENTERS Also, The Mooney Flyer (TMF) has a slightly out-of-date document at https://themooneyflyer.com/pdf/MooneyServiceCenters.pdf 1

It might also depend on the part. What are you looking for specifically? I have order through an MSC and received parts from the factory within a week recently. I also have a part on order with a 35 week lead time. Just call Lasar or Top Gun and see. You can also get some from salvage yards. Depends on what you need.

Also it depends upon your model and location. Are you in the US or outside? There are comments that "the factory is making parts". Definitely not all parts and not full support for all models. And then some parts are sourced by Mooney Corp from third parties through exclusivity contracts. Things as simple at the mechanical wing fuel level gauge dials can only be purchased by Mooney and not owners directly from the manufacturer. The problem is that Mooney doesn't have enough money to order third party parts in quantity for inventory or for MSC's. Here is a critical intake boot on an E that has a 35 week lead time after 10 orders have been received....

Depends on part (and on your A&P's comfort getting parts from salvage, etc.) Lasar/MSCs, Aircraft Spruce, etc. Parts manuals are available somewhere here. When in doubt searching the forum helps (I found using google to search MS works better than its built in search engine, for example: "[part number or name] site:mooneyspace.com"), many times others went on similar expeditions to find a specific part. If that fails, posting about it here also can help. Good luck with the search! 1
Pinecone Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 Some third party parts can be purchased from the manufacturer under some cases. Throttle/mixture/prop cables being one such part. If it is a Mooney produced part, you can probably order it through any MSC.
