Scooter Posted June 4 Author Report Posted June 4 Yes. One and the same. I just keep calling it a Trutrak before they sold out Quote
MarquezJC Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 So will this then be certified for the pre J models? And would that be the final approval needed to add to the STC? Thanks Quote
jetdriven Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 Still no auto trim. Half cup of tea for half price. Was considering it for a Cherokee 180 but I don’t think it’s all that capable even for that kind of plane. Quote

Thanks Yes this is for the pre J models. I have a M20C and that unit was being produced in Arkansas. They sold out to Duncan and name was changed to Aerocruz. I agree it doesn’t have electric trim but that would be just one more thing to break and repair. Right now my hands work well for trimming the aircraft 1 Quote

Also, as a CB, I appreciate not having to worry about additional points of failure and maintenance for what I consider a non-essential feature. 1 1 Quote
Rwsavory Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 Our C model had an STEC a/p with autotrim. Flew it for 12 years, and the only time it activated was during ground testing. I would occasionally turn off the AP and check trim, and it was never a large adjustment. Never enough that the servo called for it. Quote

My 1970 C inkynhas the handwheel by the seat, and it's not a problem. Quote

It works quite well, and the trim isn't that big of a deal. It flies approaches pretty well, too. He installed it himself and got his IA to sign it off, and said it was a very straightforward installation that didn't take very long. 2 1 Quote
65MooneyPilot Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 You never have to worry about runaway trim. 2 1 Quote
