HopePilot Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Many thanks to AeroComfort for putting up with all my notes and ideas. We finished up today and the results are exactly as imagined. The main goal was to avoid the dreaded rear-seat issue that plagues early 80 Mooneys. I'll post more pics tomorrow. 2 Quote
carusoam Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Hope, I get first comment.... I like the big side bolsters for high speed exits from the runway! The extra support will be a great advantage. They look ultra modern and ultra comfy. Best regards, -a- Quote
GeorgePerry Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 I like that you kept the ash trays...that's old school! Nice looking interior...AeroComfort interiors set the bar and continually impress. Quote
231Pilot Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 What was effect on weight and balance? The leather is beautiful...is it as cool as the cloth in the warm late spring temperatures? It looks fantastic! Did you get your yokes done too? Quote
HopePilot Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 My yokes were done previously by AeroComfort. I ended up losing a few pounds as I took the opportunity to get rid of the ADF anchor on the belly of my plane (and another Loran antenna). With less drag I am hoping for an extra knot or two... Oh, and that's Ultraleather which is much softer/buttery than the leather in our Mercedes. I wanted it to look as good in ten years as it does today, even though the price is a wash. Quote
KSMooniac Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 This might be the dumbest poll in the history of Mooneyspace!!! Who wouldn't like your upgrade??? Very nice work, not surprising that Aerocomfort did another good job. Looks great! Quote
HopePilot Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 Well, the back-up plan was to go with an avocado-green plaid with a crushed velvet headliner. Kind of a tribute to the interior plane designs of the 70's. You know, just to avoid doing the cool, modern look everyone goes for. Quote
FBCK Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Nice seats, I hope to take mine down next year and have Aero Comfort do it. Did you have the plastic Ultra Leathered as well and what is your impression of it. I find my seats have hot spots in them and after 2hours they start to kill me, did Aero help with the design to eliminate such torture. Quote
HopePilot Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 I will probably have the plastic Ultraleathered eventually, but the pieces weren't in rough enough shape to justify it. Quote
fantom Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Another fine job by the pros at Aero Comfort! Very Nice. Those headrests both look good and seem like they would be very comfortable. Where did you get the idea for them, or is it something that Hector is now offering? If you don't mind, can you tell us what they cost? I may have to get back to San Antonio soon ;-) Quote
HopePilot Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 Hector had not been previously offering that style headrest and the idea came from my interest in sports cars. I have a feeling he'll be doing a lot of them soon, as many people came by during installation with questions. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Makes me want to just get in there and take a nap............they look so yummy and comfortable. Quote
bnicolette Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Very nice indeed. Those guys do such first class work!! Quote
Bennett Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Gorgious! Very well done - Like the side bolsters. Quote

dcastor Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 I've been trying to decide where to get my interior done when I'm ready... your picture seals the deal. Awesome! Quote
Jamie Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 The main goal was to avoid the dreaded rear-seat issue that plagues early 80 Mooneys. Um... what dreaded rear seat issue? (says the owner of the '81 Mooney). Quote
HopePilot Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 Mooneys with removable rear seats (from '82) have a very rectangular shape that resists looking cool even after people throw money at them. I don't want to post any examples, lest I offend someone, but we solved the problem by simulating the shape of the front seats (lots of foam sculpting). Now that I see what Elvis did with his plane, though, I'm having a little buyer's remorse. That looks a thousand percent more groovy and could have added a little disco ball...I don't know what I was thinking? Plane is in the shop getting painted so expect yet another trademarked ridiculous poll coming soon. Quote
