Mooney Retrofit Kits - post up your knowledge

Ran across this Mooney Retrofit Kits list https://mooney.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Retrofit-Kits.pdf

It's broken out with an applicability list ("AIRCRAFT EFFECTIVITY")

Some look rather interesting, but there are no prices and some descriptions are sufficiently vague that it's hard for an owner to know if a particular retrofit is just a replacement fix or a potential upgrade to their aircraft.

Sure, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a pretty good axiom, but your experience with some of these kits might be helpful to the general community down the road.  Suggested format:

  • Aircraft model (-, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, J, K, M, etc.)
  • Kit ID
  • Details (what it did:  repair/replacement, improvement)
  • Kit cost (state year when you bought it)
  • Kit install cost

Thanks!

These have to be purchased through a MSC and each MSC sets its own prices. Some are for service bulletins that should have been installed by now. Many are no longer available except by special order. Rudder pedal extensions are probably the most popular.

Rudder pedal extensions was how I found the Retrofits list.  Not sure why I suddenly want these after many years of ownership, but....

Well, if you do get the extensions, note that the 1.5" kit contains parts for both pedals, but the 3" kit contains parts for only one pedal so you have to order two.

Notice that the list includes Vertically Adjusting Pilot/Copilot Seats and Electric Standby Vacuum System retrofits - neither still sold. The list probably has not been updated in ages.

And search MooneySpace for pictures so you can determine what you have now.
