ChrisONeill Posted October 21, 2024 Report Posted October 21, 2024 Hello All, I am considering the purchase of a M20J to be based out of the Columbus/Newark Ohio area. While I've sat in a M20F before, I've never actually flown in any M20 series. I was wondering if there's an owner in the Central Ohio area who would be willing to take me up in their aircraft, at my cost, to get a feel for it. It would be ideal if the aircraft was a M20J. I can be available whenever you have time, and I'll pay in cash. Thanks in advance. Chris. 740.501.4168 Quote

Chris K Posted November 2, 2024 Report Posted November 2, 2024 My first plane was a J and I purchased immediately after obtaining my PP flying only 172's. When transitioning, get a good CFI who has complex + retractable time. Find a good aircraft broker as well and/or a dealer that has a J for sale and see if they are willing to demonstrate. Take time with the transition and enjoy. The more time you will spend practicing/learning, the more you will eventually enjoy the airplane and stay safe. Quote
201Steve Posted November 3, 2024 Report Posted November 3, 2024 This is an interesting scenario. OP has read about, heard about, knows about Mooney. He doesn’t have much time around them. He’ll find some local assistance sit in it, fly right seat in it for 1.0, come back down and say, I HATED IT. No… He’ll say that was fun. That was great. But he’s FLYING AN AIRPLANE. OF COURSE IT’S GONNA BE GREAT! Point being, you can’t possibly make a determination of preference after a quick flight. So, just skip this part and go straight to buying the airplane. The only people who might not like it are odd sized people. Short, tall, fat. I’m partially kidding of course, but it’s funny bc it’s true. good luck in your hunt sir. 1 Quote
