M20C69 Posted May 8, 2024 Report Posted May 8, 2024 as a result of water contamination, the fuel purging efforts, resulted in the electric F. Boost pump to not function. the AMP meter showed a draw, pump was not turning. found small metallic rectangle thin (1/2 x 1/4 inch approx) lodged in pump section, jammed impellers. am still unable to ID source of item. any clues Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted May 9, 2024 Report Posted May 9, 2024 It has been a while since I disassembled a Dukes pump, but it is hard to imagine how something that big got in there. The fuel tanks have screens on the pickups. Most of the hoses and passages are about 1/4 nice ID. You don’t say which plane you have either. That makes it harder to guess. Quote

His name is M20C69 which I would assume means he has a 69 C model. But I could be wrong. 1 Quote

M20C69 Posted May 9, 2024 Author Report Posted May 9, 2024 yes, it is a 1969 Mooney Ranger. 180 hp. i agree, seems impossible for the item to be in pump impeller, but that's what we found. replaced pump because could not ID source of item.. was concerned that selector was the origin, but also seems impossible due to screen and item itself. Can you post a picture? You sure it’s not an impeller blade itself? Quote
M20C69 Posted May 10, 2024 Author Report Posted May 10, 2024 I DO HAVE PICTURES OF ITEM ON CELL PHN but don't know how to post on the net. the piece is about twice the size of pump impellers that were all intact. Quote

Just log into mooneyspace on your phone and attach the photos in the "choose files" on the paperclip within each post. It is not difficult to upload a photo. Quote
Bartman Posted May 14, 2024 Report Posted May 14, 2024 You can also email the photo to yourself from your phone, and since you are logged in, use that device to upload the picture. Quote

So open up the thread in whatever browser you use on your phone. Then select “add files” at the bottom of the post. Then select the image you wish to up load. Quote
Shadrach Posted May 14, 2024 Report Posted May 14, 2024 This is very likely an internal piece of the pump. There is no way that a .5”x.25” piece of metal made it through the plumbing that leads to your pump. 3 Quote
