Since it has Canadian number it could be problematic, I’d get ahold of a reputable MSC who has knowledge of a DER who you could work with. I went through this 10 months ago but my  plane was 7 years old with no stcs changes or alterations which made FAA acceptance not much of an issue.

Trying not to be a smart A$$ or know it all, but you need a DAR not a DER.

I only know that because I was reading the requirements to become one the other day.

But they both exist.

Designated Airworthiness Representative

      They sign off homebuilts, issue ferry permits and import airplanes.

Designated Engineering Representative

      They are the ones to see if you want to do something weird like install a RADAR in your tail cone. They do field approvals.

I imported my ast plane from Canada,, and likely will do it again. I believe the requirements re different for an experimental versus a ceritfied
