PWL Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 During the annual, the A&P found that a high-angle fitting had been screwed into the fuel servo screen holder and destroyed the screen. It looks like the screen and holder have to be replaced. Any ideas about sources that might cost less than getting it from the manufacturer (it even possible). The engine is an IO-360-A3B6. Quote
EricJ Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 There are a bunch of them on ebay. Find the proper part number for your servo and see if there's a match. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324120302733 Quote
PT20J Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 2 hours ago, PWL said: a high-angle fitting had been screwed into the fuel servo screen holder and destroyed the screen I’m not clear about the terminology “high-angle fitting” and “screen holder”. The screen fits into a barrel bored in the servo body that is threaded at both ends. One end accepts the inlet fitting and the other end accepts a plug. Quote
PWL Posted November 8, 2023 Author Report Posted November 8, 2023 There was a right angle fitting that extended into the screen and deformed it. I cannot understand why that is a problem as the screen is a very coarse pitch, but the A&P insists on replacing it. I have not yet seen it up close. Quote

EricJ Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 That does not look like the correct fitting. You might get that sorted out before you put another screen in, as I think that fitting will just smash the next one, too. It sounds like somebody modified the fuel hose and potentially the routing, so there may be a bit of work to do to get it back to functional. 1 Quote
PT20J Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 That’s the fitting for the fuel pressure line. It replaces the pipe plug in this diagram. It’s the wrong fitting. The filter has multiple layers and actually filters 74 microns according to the RSA manual. 1 Quote
PWL Posted November 15, 2023 Author Report Posted November 15, 2023 Just to follow up on the topic -- the A&P replaced the fuel strainer with a part from AVSTARdirect.com and found the right fitting to avoid mashing the new strainer. The screen was $109.70 and a new o-ring was $0.96. There are IPCs on the website for several makes of carburetors and fuel injection servos for anyone interested. Thanks for the information for everyone who contributed. 1 1 Quote
