i have a seep from the inspection panel on the bottom of the left wing.  Has anybody had experience sealing just the inspection panel?

I have the exact same thing in the same place. I have no intention of doing anything about it for now. It pretty much just seeps when the tank is full and the temps and phase of the Moon is right. When it starts leaving a puddle, or covering the bottom of the wing, I will act. When I do, I will seek out somebody to just remove that panel and put it back with new sealant. There is no way I'm spending $10,000 on either a strip and reseal, or bladders.

My bladders were done in 1991, still going strong. Ironically, the left panel and wheel well leaks were what was discovered in my pre-buy of my 1975 F. As well the squiggly worms in the fuel. Are you sure your plane wasn't reseated at one point?

That's when old, degraded sealant comes apart. Mine, on the other hand, was crumbly like sand.

My bladder has been resealed several times. Usually occurs most after drinking too much beer and breaking the seal.

Pretty sure. No record of it anyway. My sealant is in great shape as far as I can tell.

There was an change in sealants around our manufacturing timeframe. For what I remember, the sealant the factory was using at the time was not standing up to the 100LL and they placed a protective sealant over the original sealant. If you see a reddish color to your sealant, you probably have what I had. In my case that overcoat sealant was stripping off and making fishing lure worms in my tank.

It is a reddish color. I remember you talking about the worms and I look for them every time I open the fuel caps.

Time will tell I guess.
