Window Trim Beading

Anyone have a source for the silicone window trim that goes on around the window trim plastics? Jaeger aviation is out as their vendor discontinued the product. Plane Plastics sells only beige, I need light grey. Any other sources used with success?

When I redid my interior I went to the local auto paint super store (Space Age Paint). They have a back room with all kinds of automotive fasteners and such. They had a black plastic beading that looked great and fit perfect. Unfortunately, in the Arizona heat it blead out all its plasticizers and shrunk up. The plasticizers ran all over my new plastics, hopefully I can find something that will remove it without ruining the plastic.

The point is be cautious of what you get.

It is really surprising how well ordinary rattle-can paint looks on plastic parts, if you can't find any the color you want.

Go to the auto paint store and get SEM spray paint. Works well, lasts long. I painted my interior in Fall 2007 . . . .

I am painting all my plastic panels a light gray using sem. If I can’t find a gray trim I will put the beige trim on and paint them completely as an assembly. I am a little worried about the paint adherence to the trim.

I previously painted my interior gray. I left the trim, original beige. I think it looks just fine.

The original Mooney trim is hard enough that I think it would paint fine with SEM Colorcoat. I would paint the panel and then put the trim on and paint the trim . That way, you won't have any "edge" of unpainted plastic under the trim. Colorcoat blends very well so overspraying isn't a problem. Brown Aircraft has a lot of trim but only black and white, I think.
