Hi all,

My HSI is getting no signal. Tests ok and Nav 2 working fine...something wrong in the middle somehow. Need a good shop.

I know a great shop in NY but none here in Fl. Thanks.

I've used Sarasota Avionics in the past.  I have always had some installation/repair issue that required repeated visits but they eventually get the job done.  The good news is they always get the job done and others haven't.  I'm not sure that all aviation related services aren't the same with incomplete/incorrect initial work in my limited experience so maybe that is normal.

I can't say anything good about the company except that Kirk fryar is a stand up guy. To make a long story short I had all kinds of problems and finally after the second attempt where the plane came back to me worse off than when I dropped it off and weeks of needless down time. I went to my own shop to have the issues fixed for good.

Another vote for Sarasota. However, when we brought the plane into them for HSI problems last month, they sent it on to Bob Bramble for the actual repairs and the complete turnaround time was about 10 days.

Shops like Sarasota specialize in selling and installing NEW equipment, not repairs. BTW, I know of Bob Bramble and he is good.

If you can get to Ft. Lauderdale, this repair shop is excellent, honest, and reasonable. A combination not found that often.

Sarasota Avionics has my preference.. They have worked with a lot of Mooneys for new installs, repairs and upgrades. Competitive pricing and real honest work. They have shops in VENICE, SARASOTA, LANTANA, TAMPA EXEC, PUNTA GORDA, BRASIL and they are currently working on a European connection as well.. Excellent service..

I've had good luck dealing directly with Kirk Fryar also at Sarasota and have to agree he's a stand up guy. I had problems but he came through with flying colours. (pun intended) Ask to get Fred Dunn for new avionics installations.
