Ovation oil change. - This is a "How I do it" not a "How to do it"

What I learned for my next oil change.

Don't pre-oil the tempest filter

If I am removing the cowling by myself, next time use painter's tape to protect the cowling from scratching the body. Got a few scratches.

Undo the vent house first

Bring better music

I never thought of adding the short hose to the quick drain. I wish the oil filter on my IO360 was as easy to change and safety wire.

Nice Video. The only thing I'd mention is that the Top #1 instruction printed on the Tempest EZ oil filter is not to put any lubrication on the gasket (the gasket has it built in). Tempest told me at Oshkosh the reason is that they have seen both extremes when people do that: (1) on some lower temp locations the oil or DC4 that people use combined with the lubricant built into the Tempest gasket doesn't seal and it develops leaks and (2) if it's in a very high temp application the two sealants combined cook, making it extremely difficult to get off, sometimes destroying the filter to get it off.  I don't use any lube and have never had either issue. I much prefer the Tempest EZ filters to the old Tempest and the Champion filters.

I was told decades ago that the hose can cause the valve spout to vibrate against the body cutting the O ring and can cause leaks.
