Flyphilly Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 Hi All - Does anyone fly an ovation and use an A20 with the coiled plug? I was wondering if it is more or less convenient than the straight plug. Any feedback is welcome! Thanks! Quote
toto Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 I think those are the “helicopter” plugs. 1 Quote

They do not make the dual plg GA cord in coiled. https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/headphones/aviation_headsets/a20-aviation-headset.html?mc=25_PS_AV_BO_MB_GO_&gclid=CjwKCAiA-9uNBhBTEiwAN3IlNOpOPWqME1W5OvXjXz3KDQHmru5I0oSQhS6gSy399meaey0K_EOpuBoCo2gQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds (See the drop down menu) I've flown with both the straight and coiled and slightly prefer the straight cord since you can direct it where you want it to go. The coiled cord kinda goes where it wants to (twists and coils up). But either is fine really. No huge difference. 1 Quote
RobertGary1 Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 I feel like the coil “pulls” on me a bit. Even jn the helicopter I just use an adaptor with my GA straight cord a20. The straight version has clips to secure it so it doesn’t interfere. In the helicopter we have tabs the clips work great on. 1 Quote
PT20J Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 I have a Bose A20 and a Lightspeed Zulu 3. The Bose was very slightly quieter in the Beaver (which is VERY loud) but I can't tell much difference in the Mooney. I really like the cord on the Zulu -- very flexible and very light. Skip 1 Quote

wingsaircharter Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 I have brand new straight corded A20 BT for $975 if you are interested. Quote
hubcap Posted December 18, 2021 Report Posted December 18, 2021 I actually prefer the coiled cord in the cabin of my Mooney when flying. The straight cord is much longer than is needed so the shorter coiled cord is more convenient for me. Quote

I didn’t see any feedback to this question stating it was a terrible idea so I am going to try it! thanks all! Quote
skykrawler Posted December 18, 2021 Report Posted December 18, 2021 I have a Lightspeed that has the coil. Also have a David Clark helicopter style that is coiled. I find the coiled cords tend to twist up and are difficult to untwist. Kinda like the old phone receiver cords - always in a knot. 1 Quote
