Having a heck of a time trying to find the plastic trim panel for the right rear window on my 76F. I assume it’s the same as the 77J since it’s the same long window. Plane plastics (vintage) shows the C model trim doe my 76F which is clearly wrong. Their email doesn’t work so not sure if they’re still in business.

Yes, Plane Plastics is still in business but their web site is very difficult to use (and the drawings and P/Ns don't seem to be completely accurate across the various M20 models)).  I couldn't find trim for the long window without it having the entire lower panel included (on any model aircraft).  If you find a P/N, please post it.  The only long trim I could find without the lower panel has the post in the middle (or at least the post is shown in the pics).

They show K340073-2 but that’s the egg shaped c model from their picture. I wish I could email them to tell if the picture is just wrong.

When I ordered some window beading from them a few weeks ago, they recommended I always call to order.  I'm repairing my old long window trim pieces now (I have the long window mod on my F and the trim was poorly pieced together years ago when the center post was cut out).  Spent a week off and on repairing one side to make it look decent.  I would have ordered if I could have found a P/N.  Working on the other side soon.

I checked my notes.  Take a look at K130277-011 and -013 under the 77 & 78 M20J.  That's the only thing I could find that might work.  But you're buying the entire side panel too.  If they offer just the window trim, please LMK.

Did you guys try LASAR?

Almost 15y ago I installed the 201 style long windows on My 67F and bought the parts from LASAR and they had a window trim as well.

I am (almost) sure that Plane plastic had those as well and they would be (judging by other interior parts I bought from them) better quality. LASAR part was very thin, flimsy plastic but it got covered by ultra-leather anyway so I didn't care. Good luck.

I'll try calling plane plastics.  The conversion may be futile though unless they have someone that knows the airplane and the changes.  Their web site and drawings are challenging.

I called Plane Plastics.  They visually checked their inventory.  They do have the part but it hasn't been approved and PMA'ed by the FAA.  It's called a "UK" part.  UK130209-005 and UK130209-006.  The only way you can buy it, is to send in your part for reference.  Apparently there is some process where they can compare your original part to the one they have in stock.  If it matches, you can buy the new part and they will return your original part.  If you call, talk to Tonya.  I'm considering sending mine in.

DC,

Perfect! What you are describing is the process for User Supplied Parts...

When the parts of your certified plane are not available commercially... you are able to have them made...

There Are a few details that go with that compliance...

In this case... you supply your existing parts... and they are the expert at making airplane parts and know how to replicate them...

This same procedure is used for making gear lock blocks, and engine controls...

When you get the parts back... report on your success!

This is the right way to do things when you can’t call the factory...

Leave a note for RG1... @RobertGary1

PP thoughts only, not a parts manufacturer...

Best regards,

its called an owner produced part.  reference 14 CFR 21.9(a)(5).  by you sending them the old one, you are spec'ing out the new owner produced part.
