cferr59 Posted September 3, 2020 Report Posted September 3, 2020 Hello, I will be installing a Surefly on my M20C and am working on planning the installation. For anyone who has installed one, where did you pick up the manifold pressure and what fittings did you use? The instructions recommend picking it up on the #4 cylinder. However, I am tempted to install a splitter prior to the valve for my standby vacuum system. Thanks, Chris Quote
hammdo Posted September 3, 2020 Report Posted September 3, 2020 David, @Sabremech, installed one on his C I’m buying. He can probably guide you. It was installed on the left mag side... -Don Quote

PT20J Posted September 3, 2020 Report Posted September 3, 2020 I just put one on my M20J. I picked off the #4cylinder. McMaster-Carr has the barbed fittings to attach to the rubber hose supplied by SureFly. https://www.mcmaster.com/53505K111/ Skip 1 1 Quote
carusoam Posted September 4, 2020 Report Posted September 4, 2020 Skip, Have you been trained in the ancient arts of mechanical drawing? That is some awesome lettering you have there... Very pre-digital era kind of skill. I had seen a drawing board once... we didn’t get along that well... Best regards, -a- 1 1 Quote

47U Posted September 4, 2020 Report Posted September 4, 2020 I also replaced the left mag. I sourced a steel AN804-2 T-fitting and replaced the manifold pressure gauge bulkhead fitting. I then made up a Stratoflex 193-2 hose with the flared B-nut on one end. The 193-2 hose has thicker walls and grips the barb on the mag more tightly that the hose in the kit. Running the manifold pressure hose along the firewall to the Surefly worked for me. Tom 1 Quote
Sabremech Posted September 4, 2020 Report Posted September 4, 2020 On Don’s, I installed a T-fitting at the back of the # 1 cylinder at the existing manifold pressure fittings. David Quote

It is a great large surface to put drawings on and to do initial sketches for designers and drafters. I watched my dad draw up plans for his house on one though he was never in the engineering field. When it came time to design my house I graduated to CADD. Quote
Brian Manke Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 Thank you for this post. This tip using Stratoflex hose helped me immensely installing my very own SureFly! Thank you! Quote
