1ang Posted October 1, 2019 Report Posted October 1, 2019 Hey so I was wondering what are some good airports in Florida with great restaurants at the airport. I know of spruce creek but was wondering where are some other great $100 hamburger spots. Quote

flight2000 Posted October 1, 2019 Report Posted October 1, 2019 I always liked using this website. Just plug in your starting airport and a distance you'd like to travel. Not sure how complete it is, but it's a good resource. http://www.fly2lunch.com/results.php?apt=KDAB&radius=200&onApt=1 I punched in KDAB and 200 NM's in the link above. Cheers, Brian 1 Quote
Hector Posted October 2, 2019 Report Posted October 2, 2019 There are restaurants at KSPG (Albert Witted in Tampa), KBOW (Bartow), X39 (Tampa North), KLAL (Lakeland), KOCF (Ocala), X60 (Williston), KEVB (New Smyrna), KDED (Deland), KFPR (Treasure Coast), KOBE (Okeechobee), just to name a few. carusoam Posted October 2, 2019 Report Posted October 2, 2019 The Florida Mooney flyers have a monthly fly-in scheduled.... at a restaurant... Find Dave and Ruth... they do the organizing... And Gary usually does the public announcements... Best regards, -a- Quote

Davidv Posted October 2, 2019 Report Posted October 2, 2019 On the west coast I like the restaurant at Venice. Quote

A simple scroll down this section will provide you with enough good eateries to yield gross weight problems So will doing a search for Florida Fly-In locations. I would be hard pressed to call any airport restaurants "great" 2 Quote
flyboy0681 Posted October 2, 2019 Report Posted October 2, 2019 My hands down favorite is The Hangar at KSPG. The airport is right on the bay and the outside seating overlooks the airport. Lots of great military planes fly over at low altitude on their way into MacDill, which is 8 miles to the east. Across the street is the Dali museum and a really nice marina for strolling around. 1 1 Quote

BKlott Posted October 3, 2019 Report Posted October 3, 2019 The Runway Cafe at Sebring (KSEF) is usually very good. 1 1 Quote
carusoam Posted October 3, 2019 Report Posted October 3, 2019 Going to see the Dali museum would be extra cool! -a- Quote

Even though I never got to fly I nto the real Meigs field, it reminded me of that airport. Buildings directly to your left (you’re pretty much in downtown St. Petersburg), runway built out on water, and a nice little parking garage to clear on short final to 7. Great airport. Quote

flyboy0681 Posted October 3, 2019 Report Posted October 3, 2019 Two other excellent restaurants are CJ Cannon's at Vero Beach. This is an excellent on-airport place which on a typical weekend is filled with locals. Parking is directly in front of the place. Another one of my go-to places is located in Venice. Although not on the airport grounds, Sharky's on the Pier will pick up pilots if they aren't too busy. It's located within walking distance, but on a hot day could be a chore. Tie down at Suncoast (for a fee) and they will call for the pickup. The restaurant is right on the water and adjacent to a pier. Too bad we can't take advantage of their happy hour. Quote

Like minded Mooney owners fly in from around the state to a different location each month, although the same restaurants are on a rotation. A good day will find 15 Mooney's arriving on the ramp. Unit74 Posted December 12, 2019 Report Posted December 12, 2019 Lake City KLCQ has a country buffet directly across the street from it. Typical greasy spoon. Been there a few times. Quote
avrios Posted December 26, 2019 Report Posted December 26, 2019 I just discovered Winter Haven (KGIF) has a great restaurant on the field. Only found it because I was getting a SES rating at Jack Brown's. Quote
