It would take more time than I have to really that well, but I'd start with 43.13 that says we have to follow the manufacturers maintenance manuals. for using anything else we need to have approved data, acceptable to the administrator, to allow us to use it, which is what STC process provides.

Yeah, but he has an F. Your IPC is for C, D & E. they aren't always the same.

The point was they are spelled out in the WD. The other point was you need to know where to look, being the first step in maintenance. To be completely legal you must have your reference material at hand. At the airlines the feds would often walk up to us as we were working and demand to see the maintenance manual reference material we were using and it had better have that day's date on it. We made copies of the manual from a computer and they are date stamped.  Large aircraft manuals are updated on a daily basis.

My Maintenance Manual is dated in the 1970s . . . . Good thing I'm not an airline!

I tried to quote cctsurf but guess it didn't post....

I do have a question, why can't you just replace the bulb with a cross referenced bulb.  we do the same thing for spark plugs, oil filters, wheel bearing.  

Guess all I'm saying is its the same part but different manufacture.

Yeah, I was looking at that as well. $115each is stupid for a light bulb but in a grand scheme of things drop in a bucket. I should be replacing them at my next annual.

I like how the grimes bulbs were taped off with masking tape and then spray painted to get the correct angles for viewing.   Wonder what GE bulb they used to do that with.

In other news, and for me just to be annoying.  Just because the picture of that you take of LEDs is brighter does not mean that they are really brighter.  It just means that the CCD in the camera you are using likes the temperature of the LEDs better than the incandescent bulbs.

Same as with the LED in a remote control.  hold the remote up to the camera to check and see if it is working.

heck no the top one is 90 degrees out of alignment. that is going to cost you several knots in speed putting them in the slow way not aligned with the symmetry of the rudder and the rest of the plane.  It's what happens when you let armature mechanics work on the plane.

But a PMA is just an authorization to produce the part. I didn't think it said anything about the installation on any particular aircraft. I agree with others who have stated an A&P can sign it as a minor alteration. I don't see it as a major mod in any way.
